1990 Yamaha FZR600 Genesis??

What's this awful hiway performance you speak of? Sure the KLR is no racer but 130kph all day long is no problem.

Not awful, that might be harsh. Just a workout.

Seems people on bigger bikes can get off after 200km and feel great. KLR beats me up on the road and I generally like to pull over every 100km to stretch my legs and rest my butt.

Seems most faster bikes get more stable above 100kmh, whereas the KLR starts to feel pretty wonky over 120-125. Might need to balance my front wheel again as I think I may have lost a lead weight at some point.

Got a tall windscreen I will start using on highway trips, that should help a bit too I think.

Still sort of want something more comfy at those speeds though.

What tires are you running? Knobs plus 100 kph+ on asphalt are nobodies friend.

Shinko 705. They should be plenty fine for highway. 80/20 I think they are?
Maybe try the Kenda 270s next time round. I ride with about 8 or 9 other guys all who own KLRs. We do lots of hiway miles at those speeds with no problem. Also I find it odd you don't find the bike comfy for long miles. I've owned 13 road bikes and the KLR is the hands down long mile comfort winner (those include a 900 ninja, FZ6 and a goldwing) . The upright riding position and long travel suspension soaking up the bumps makes for easy days in the saddle (800kms no problem). I do have hiway pegs that can giove the legs a stretch and they are a great help.
