182 in a 70 zone

They didnt say what charge he got. If that isnt sufficient for a dangerous driving conviction (assuming sufficient valid evidence), I dont know what is.
HTA 172, probably about it.

If weed is easily accessible is that the same as having an open bottle near the driver? It’s a pretty serious charge even if you’re not drinking.

The specifics of that one are interesting. If you have weed but no way to light it, are you still guilty? What are you going to do, chew it? Seems unlikely for many reasons. If you put it in a heat sealed bag, is that ok? Like a sealed bottle of booze at that point?

True. That’s why any open bottle in my car (and I have no clue when the last time was) is in the trunk.

I remember in Poland and while driving your passengers could drink. Driver couldn’t. But all passengers were able to have beers/liquor or whatever you want.

Good question, i don’t believe there’s currently a charge for this. The statement was very vague, guess he had a joint nearby.

I took a pinch for open liquor a few yrs ago. On my boat. I don't drink.
Buddy did (too much, he died....sclerosis).
I told the judge my buddy can't go 60 seconds with out a drink, that's why I had the open case under my feet, so he couldn't access it while the boat was running.
Case dismissed.

Frak. Sorry to hear about your buddy. Glad to see the judge was rational in the decision.

my favourite uncle drank himself to death a few years ago. Was awesome 9/10 times....until he touched the vodka. Then couldn’t stop himself until he either crashed his car or ended up in the hospital due to passing out.

I'm curious to know how old that driver was.
To be fair, I've done some stupid things in my 18 - early 20's.

Kinda feel bad for him lol.

Let’s see it!
Not the exact law, but a reputable source of information.

"Transporting cannabis

Similar to the rules for alcohol, it is illegal to transport cannabis in a motorized vehicle (such as a car or boat) if it is:

  • open (“unfastened”) and not in its original packaging
  • not packed in baggage and is readily available to anyone in the vehicle"
EDIT:

Law

Transporting cannabis

"12 (1) No person shall drive or have the care or control of a vehicle or boat, whether or not it is in motion, while any cannabis is contained in the vehicle or boat.

Exception

(2) Subsection (1) does not apply with respect to cannabis that,

(a) is in its original packaging and has not been opened; or

(b) is packed in baggage that is fastened closed or is not otherwise readily available to any person in the vehicle or boat. 2018, c. 12, Sched. 1, s. 12 (1)."

Buddy was a nightmare......driving.
Too many incidents to list, but my favorite was the (poor) cow. In a field......wayyyyy off the road. Buddy smashed into the cow, driving a pontiac sunfire. Lucky for him, he hit the cow with the (unoccupied) passenger side. Completely flattened that side of the car, and the (poor) cow **** himself which was splattered "everywhere".
Thankfully, nobody was ever hurt, injured or killed during his "numerous" **** ups.

And "not in its original packaging" means it has to be in packaging from a licensed distributor.
If you buy your weed on the reserve... YOU'RE BUSTED

Put it in a suitcase. It is a) or b). To be safe, just always use b. It was interesting that they made it illegal to transport and then added two exceptions instead of making it illegal to be accessible.

Wow. Lucky guy. My uncle had too many accidents to count. The worst was when he rolled his car a few times. Someone called the cops so he called his employee.
Paid the employee to take the hit and sit in jail for a year in his place. This was Poland over 10 years ago, different world.
