Ya I'm going to run them next year, I'll just make sure not to crash (knock on wood) and keep them for decoration.

Confine your crashes to either grass only or tarmac only and you'll be good to go.

This is why I asked the question. I only run frame sliders and bar ends atm and am wondering about the benefits of good bar ends and case covers and losing the frame sliders. If only I knew what my next crash was gonna be.
 
I had a good crash in 2010 where i lost the front end on the brakes at the end of the straight at TMP in the wet. Ground right through a woodcraft case cover on the tarmac, then the bike hit the grass. Vortex frame slider snapped off. The bike did flip once, but one puny bolt on a 400 lb bike sliding at 100mph isn't going to affect anything. It's going bye bye. IMO get all the protection you can.
 
No frame sliders, just the bolt on covers. Some crashes are better then others.
