$15 Princess Auto gift card for each recycled battery

I probably wouldn't leave the store without spending it. Even if I only cashed in one battery, I'm sure I could find something useful for around $15

Hey you never know when you will need a almost dead but partially functional battery.

Sent from the future

Just yesterday I needed an old 12v powersport battery with only 4v showing on it. Boy, was I in luck!

The reality is that a lot of the gift cards that they will issue will never be used as people will either loose them or forget them at home.

I wouldn't even make it out of the store if I had a gift card in my pocket.

I mentioned this to a riding buddy who works at an electronics place and a little spark lit up in his eye as apparently they have a mountain of old UPS's and UPS batteries at work lol.

I went through 3 old UPS's I had kicking around at home today and turns out only 1 still had batteries in it, albeit 2 of them.

I related news I need to get rid of a lot of old electronics I'm hoarding. The UPS's from the 1990's are probably not going to be needed anymore lol.

Coincides with Peel Region's free battery pick going on now.

Interesting....hmmm.

Yes, same thing here this week. I might go for a little drive and see about any easy pickings lol.

They do this every year??

I may or may not have dropped off a half dozen batteries at Canadian Tire after hours in the past year, and may or may not feel stupid about it now.🫣

I did the same, took probably 10-15 small ones to the dump from old UPS's and dumped them in the pile there for free last fall.

PA did this last year as well, so maybe it'll be an annual thing. I honestly didn't expect them to do it again.

I'm going to start collecting batteries now from everywhere I see one, so I should have a huge pile by this time next year. Which inevitably means they wont' do the promotion again next year and I'll have to haul them all to the dump after the fact. And then they'll do it again a year later lol.

I used to leave them at the end of my driveway the afternoon before garbage day and they would magically disappear overnight.

Don't the scrap yards pay $5 for them? Leave an old aluminum BBQ out and it's gone before AM. There's an old gent here that goes though the recycle bins and picks out the wine bottles and aluminum cans. Free money and no gym fees.

Our old neighbourhood was great with scrappers cruising on garbage day. They don't troll the new hood. There is a guy you can call that will do a free pickup if you have stuff you want to disappear. Sometimes it takes him a few days to show up but it's handy. Last year he grabbed a pool heater, bbq, propane tanks, steel wheel and some misc crap. We were both happy. Heat exchanger on the pool heater was probably worth more than the rest combined but whatever. I didn't need to put together the trailer and waste an hour driving it somewhere only to get screwed on the rate as I have no idea on current fmv.

Nothing like avoiding a punctured tire on your way out of the scrap yard to boot.
