Most scrap yards pay by weight for lead acid batteries a car battery can be up to 30 or soDamn, I just threw out 2 old bike batteries last month thinking "Why the hell am I still hanging on to these?" Oh well, maybe this will help others. Page 12 of this week's new flyer:

Has anyone found a good time of the day to get in and out of the place?

I saw that. I wasn't really sure what they considered a "commercial" battery. The rest of the categories made sense to me. I suspect by commercial they mean larger batteries but I don't really know.
scrapyards go by weightI'll wait for SS answer as $30 a battery is better than 10 but this is a good opportunity to clear out the dead battery corner of the garage. I wonder if they'll take SLA's. Are they "commercial"?
It looks like most prices I can find are $0.25/lb. Any battery over 40 lbs would be better to go to the scrapper than PA. I don't have any batteries that would get me $30.scrapyards go by weight
Awesome, thanks.Confirmed. I brought in 6 batteries to PA at noon -- 2 UPS gel cells, 3 motorcycle lead acid and one automotive battery. They took them all and gave me a gift card for $67.80 ($60 credit + HST). For me, that's a great deal because it's not worth my time to look for a scrap dealer.
I think they classified my UPS batteries as commercial batteries.Awesome, thanks.
Thank you fine sir. Garage space regained, up $50. Cut your ups batteries apart and get $20 back for something that cost you $100 to start. Good deal.Damn, I just threw out 2 old bike batteries last month thinking "Why the hell am I still hanging on to these?" Oh well, maybe this will help others. Page 12 of this week's new flyer:

On the more dubious side, shopping in the early morning, during severe weather is great. I went there during the January snowstorm and it was the store staff, one other customer, and me.
