Wait, people in Canada tried to pull this BS? I thought it was just a loonie bin US thing... wasn't algebra ect developed in the middle east?
 
The math curriculum in Ontario has been f'd for quite a while. They used to go through step by step and build on the existing, but now bounce around from topic to topic and then come back. At least that's what my kids' tutor told me. Anyone at a school that followed the curriculum closely had a tutor, and some went so far as to take math at private school during the summer.
 
I got 30 seconds into that video and it just screams trucker convoy to me. Sorry, but I can't watch that stuff.

I don't know, both my kids took math all throughout their schooling. One had no issues whatsoever, and the other one is struggling a bit in a grade 12 course. I helped them with their homework and never saw anything strange or out of the ordinary from when I went through schooling 30 years ago.

My kids were in the EQAO thing. All they did in those years was prep them for the exam only interested in the outcome. There was so much focus on it the kids stressed about it. Grade 3, 6 and 9 all we heard about was EQAO prep and how poorly the kids were doing towards it.

Our neighbour is a high school math teacher on the local board, he full out said it wasn't the kids as the teachers didn't know how to teach the math curriculum. Sounded pooched from the start from what I recall.

There was a case in the USA where some town passed a resolution that some residents didn't like. The disgruntled residents circulated a petition to review the matter and the resolution after much legal expense was upheld. The town sent the bill, pro rated, to the signers of the petition to the tune of several thousand dollars each.

Will the teacher candidates get similar bills for wasting government time?
