Can't shift into neutral when bike is hot

I'd say the cables stops at around 95 degrees when fully pulled. I do have aftermarket grips actually and that's a good point, though they aren't as thick as the grip puppies appear to be because they replaced the stock ones and didn't go over them. A stretched clutch cable would definitely...

Can't shift into neutral when bike is hot

Manual suggest free play between 10 and 15 mm deflection in the lever. It's pretty much in the middle of that so hence it being in spec. I changed the oil in the spring and always use synthetic. Hard to imagine anything wrong with it already. By the sound if it, it'll be worth checking the...

Can't shift into neutral when bike is hot

If it only required a couple of inches, we wouldn't be talking. Sent from my ASUS_Z012DC using Tapatalk

Can't shift into neutral when bike is hot

Yeah exactly - it's the opposite symptom if it being worn out. Slipping I can understand. I mean it's not a huge problem or anything. Just a head-scratcher.

Can't shift into neutral when bike is hot

Last time I adjusted it was sometime last year. Since being stuck was happening then too I figured it's not it but it won't hurt to check. Thanks for pointing it out! Also a little suspicious is the fact that it only happens after using it a bunch in stop and go and never during regular riding...

Can't shift into neutral when bike is hot

Hi all, I know this is sort of a common issue but I still find it a little strange. A little bit about the bike: 2012 Yamaha FZ8 with 52,000 km on it. The issue: when stuck in stop and go traffic for a while, in the heat, eventually it becomes impossible to shift out of first and into neutral...

    Increased vibration (numb hands!)

Just a short update on this. Turned out the problem is only really pronounced when I have a passenger which kinda points to the wheels, as most of you suggested (more weight, more vibration). The front wheel makes a slight noise when spun (with brakes removed) which sounds like either a bearing...

    Increased vibration (numb hands!)

Some great suggestions, thanks! No aftermarket bar ends or exhaust. Which is why I'm so mystified by the change in vibration. The front tire is not wavy right in the center but it is slightly to the left and right of it. Don't know if that's normal or not. Might be a good idea to get new tires...

    Increased vibration (numb hands!)

Got new tires March last year. Around 15,000 km on them already (ugh). There is a sequence in bolt install/removal when removing the engine but the torque sequence probably doesn't really matter. I will retorque them in that order though. Who knows. I'm usually cruising at around 5,000. I like...

    Increased vibration (numb hands!)

Hi all, I've noticed an increased vibration on my yamaha fazer 8 (@ ~32k km) to a point where one of my mirrors is shaking a lot at highway speeds and my hands and even my right foot get numb after an hour on the highway (hands go numb in like 20 mins). It's never been the case for this bike...

Anyone else out still riding on the nice days?

Tires were like rocks this morning. Went sideways at one point. It was a mistake but all is well when it ends well.

On new riders practicing in parking lots

I don't understand why people think that getting your m2 somehow magically means you can't make mistakes. A few weeks into riding, you're a complete novice. I don't care how many exercises you've adequately completed at a riding course. Hell, a few years into riding I still make mistakes -...

V-Strom on Pearl St - your lights are on

This is a long shot but if the owner of the v-strom on Pearl st sees this, your ignition is in Park instead of off. Your battery may be dead by the time you get back. I always hated that on my suzuki. It's very easy to turn the key one notch too far and not notice it.

Help! Bike not starting [Video included]

Yeah, start simple first. If you have a multimeter, test the battery voltage - should be around 12V. Your lights/horn, unlike your starter, don't need a fully working battery to work. After you try to start it, there's some other noise which I think is fuel pump? I've had pretty much the exact...

    Rad hose leak on fz8

Hi all, I've had this thick substance accumulate on one of the radiator hoses on my FZ8 with 10k km on it and I can't figure out what it could be. It's dripping onto the water pump inlet pipe, seemingly from one of the smaller hoses above it. Looking at the manual it looks like it might be the...

    Tire pump suggestions

How do you guys manage to fit a bicycle pump nozzle over the valve? There's so little space between the valve and the wheel hub and around the disks for me, it's a huge struggle with even small nozzles. Update: Nevermind. 90 degree adapters.
