Inspect the o-ring, if it is in good condition with no nicks or cuts in it and it fits in the groove ok, reuse it.
I have reused many o-rings with no problems.
I guess I worded that incorrectly and you missed my point , (I know how to up shift/down shift a bike, I have been riding for approx 40 years)
What I meant was "is it necessary to approach a stop light like your coming into turn 3 at mosport"
If the engine had a miss at idle I would look at for a ignition problem, but your low idle sounds like your carburetor(s) may have a pilot jet that is gummed up.
