I had already put Stabil in the tank before my last ride on the 23rd. I topped it up again when I filled up at the end of the ride. I hope to get in a couple more rides before the snow comes for the winter and always bring the Stabil with me to replenish the tank when I stop to refuel. I was...
I change over to winter tires in mid-October every year. I've been caught before so now I just make sure they are on before Halloween.
Still hoping for a day or two of riding weather before I put the ski racks on the car.
And good theft / loss of use insurance I presume. With the ever increasing theft of vehicles from driveways, keeping your vehicles out of sight is another bonus of being able to park inside the garage. If they don't see it they won't try to steal it.
I also went for a little ride yesterday afternoon because of the lengthy frost delay at the golf course. Beautiful day to ride and no issues with traction.
I really hate taking the time to clear ice and snow off my car in the winter and unnecessarily idling the car makes no sense to me. As a result it's very important for me to be able to fit both my bike and car in the garage. Our last townhouse only had a single car garage, but there was still...
I've already seen brine applied to a few roads near Orangeville. Really good chance they were done overnight as it was below the freezing point up here. I'm hoping there isn't too long of a frost delay at the golf course this morning.
Can't wait for the first snowfall! I'm sure all the newly licensed Brampton drivers will be well represented in the nightly news broadcast about the carnage on the roads.
I've been cut-off twice by gravel trucks pulling out of the quarry at Hockley Road / 5 Sideroad. There are two stop signs for the trucks, one at the quarry exit and a second on 5 Sideroad at Hockley. Most of these guys might stop at the first, but very few want to stop again and run through the...
I've had that happen so often it doesn't even faze me anymore. Those mall entries and exits with the pork-chop island to encourage people to turn right only, together with the "No Left Turn" signage, mean absolutely nothing to someone who just needs to turn left.
I've never ridden that road. The only time I've ever driven it was one winter day on my way to Blue when the wind was blowing the snow sideways across 124 so badly I quite literally could not see the end of my hood! I turned at Redickville (insert 6 year old chuckle) and headed east with the...
Those moments were likely between Prince of Wales Road and Kilgorie. I've had one or two myself in that area. It's not as bad since they resurfaced that section a couple of years ago. They widened the roadway a little and that seems to have reduced the amount of gravel kicked onto the roadway by...
Here's my route to avoid Airport Road north of Hockley Valley Road. BTW, I also prefer to ride east to west along 20th Sideroad/River Road.
I'll take Hockley Valley Road eastbound past Airport Road and through the village, then go north on Concession 4, east on 89, north on CR 13 to Everett...
UPDATE: The resurfacing of this section of 20th Sideroad/River Road is now complete. Beautiful new asphalt surface, but still that ridiculous 50 kph limit. I was up there Wednesday and they were just doing the final touches to the shoulders.
Be warned, River Road is currently under construction between Terra Nova to Kilgorie. I was up there yesterday and they have ground up the asphalt surface and were laying a soft sand / gravel mixture along the entire length. Very exciting on a heavy street bike, but could be fun on an adventure...
So this sh*tshow should arrive at 10 / Hockley at about 2:30? Noted. I might want to sit in the park on the northwest corner and watch as they make the turn. Could be entertaining.
