    Iron Butt routes

I don't see myself going through the US right now, if only because I left the passport in the city.

    Iron Butt routes

Driving all the way to Halifax doesn't seem to take much longer than the route I planned, and would seem to be a much nicer drive. There could be worse places to crash stay in a motel than NS. But, I'm tempering my ambition for now. Honestly not sure if I can even do the single SS...

    Iron Butt routes

Wait... Waze (on the computer) can't handle multiple waypoints? Edit: I've used Waze a long time on the phone and am surprised that I can't seem to figure out how to add multiple waypoints here either, nor specify a starting point that is not where I am. I just played with it on the computer...

    Iron Butt routes

Oof. 75$ is a lot more than I expected.... each way. Good call on asking an app to schedule for me - do you mean go through TO between 1 and 4 PM or AM? Are Ottawa and Windsor the most likely turn around points or can I do better?

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

So what's the go-to order here? I'm hoping to do an IB ride this week, but if I can't figure out the details maybe I'll head out there and snap a pic for my friend. I shared the picture you posted and she already got a kick out of it.

    Iron Butt routes

I've had doing an IB on my bucket list for a long time. I have the week off, kids are in the city with Mom, and the weather is nice, so I thought about doing one. I know that fall is less ideal because of the shorter days, but no time like the present. I'm in the Orillia area. I'm assuming...

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

What's so special about Lachapelles? I know someone with that surname who might get a kick out of a picture.

    Bluetooth, where to start!

When I was outfitting our sleds we wanted four Bluetooth headsets. I wasn't willing to spend the $ for 4 Cardos or Senas, so I was looking downmarket. The one that I saw most people recommending online was the Lexin B4FM (IIRC). I don't remember how much we paid but it was a fraction of what...

    Bluetooth, where to start!

I'm pretty sure the guy who fit them wasn't dealing with any other customers at the time, or maybe, that day. Place was empty and I think he came in just for me. I messaged him but never heard back so I'm kind of writing it off.

    Bluetooth, where to start!

I'm with you here. If I had a dollar for every time I rode off with my key sticking out of the seat lock.... With the size and weight of key plus fob, I'm surprised it hasn't just plain fell out... yet. Keyless ignition is a blessing and a curse. *Every* time I go for a ride... there's...

    Bluetooth, where to start!

I had a pair of custom fitted ones made recently and have so far been underwhelmed. They attenuate noise much less than my regular foams, and seem to introduce a weird low frequency booming noise as well.

    Bluetooth, where to start!

I've worn my helmet into stores. It's too much of a pain for me to take off my gloves, take off my helmet, take off my ear plugs, etc. and then have to reverse all of the above possibly a few minutes later. While I'm sure the above interaction is the exception and not the rule, it would give...

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

There’s nothing like the feeling immediately after jumping out of a plane on your own. You feel like you can do anything. I’ve only done it once, maybe 25 years ago, and I remember everything about that day as if it just happened.

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

My Mom was an inveterate speeder. My Dad would always say she was “racing to her grave”. I still joke about that with her.

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

I thought when my kids got older they wouldn’t want to have anything to do with us. I know I was like that as a teen, so I was looking forward to having lots of free time when that happened. In fact part of the reason I got back into riding was the knowledge that my kids didn’t need me the same...

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

You’re just being a good father and you should be commended. Saturday was a beautiful day for riding, but I spent most of it having brunch, doing some errands and visiting Sainte Marie among the Hurons, all with the wife and our 19- and 17-year old sons. I did squeeze in an hour or two towards...

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

As for me - I rode about 150km on Saturday in the Barrie/Oro area in the evening after spending the day with my wife and kids. I was mostly interested to see if the WindJammer helmet skirt I bought would reduce wind noise. I couldn't tell much of a difference, except that it made putting on...

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

@PrivatePilot That bike looks like a real, certified mile muncher. Congratulations, it looks beautiful. An IBA ride is a dream of mine. What IBA ride is this that you need special permission to ride in this case?

    What was this about?

I'm still stunned that someone would lane split at such high speed right afterwards. Judging by how fast he pulled away from me, he must have been going 180+ when he went between two cars that were right beside each other. Today I was stuck on Horseshoe Valley Rd behind a huge farm vehicle...
