No doubt 8,000 is not much normally, that would be about one season for my street bike. Unfortunately it’s a track bike (but with a clean title that could easily be put back on the road) so I don’t expect to do much more than a few hundred km over multiple outings. Only do maybe two a year...

Those look pretty dried out. It is pretty amazing how well tires can last stored properly, did all last season on early 2013 date codes and you wouldn't have been able to tell just looking at and feeling them. Still were just fine.
I think the current thinking is that it was hit from the outside. That piece that came out was just in the spot it got windowed and broke off inside because of that. It stands straight up inside the pan right where the hole is, can be seen in the picture of the inside of pan.
Did you wiggle that piece that can be seen inside the hole? Does it move at all? These are two pictures of a super tenere oil pan in the rear sump area, looks like the hole is right next to that rectangular part. Judging from this video I can't see what that would be sitting there like that...
Yep! Revco is hard to beat these days especially with free shipping, which seems to be always be making petes more expensive when you add the $30 shipping on.
Undecided right now. Will be a track bike at first, it's pretty deep into full on track territory. Race fairings, no turn signals or lights whatsoever, no turn signal switch. Probably keep an eye out for a used road plastic kit, if I find one then it will likely get put back on the road.
