    Generators

GreyGhost, I would be very careful what brand of generator I would use for home backup.Champion would not be my first choice.Almost every electrical device and appliance has some kind of circuit board in them including your fridge ,furnace etc. and cheaper generators can wreak havoc on them...

    Generators

The product that you’re referring to is made by a company called Generlink. They run about $1000 (plus the cost of a generator). The Generlink along with a 5000w generator will run most homes.Yamaha makes a nice 7500w generator on wheels for $1800 that would leave you with power to spare. The down...

    Art Robbins

Heartbreaking. I saw him run his first super bike race at Shannonville. He rode a red 1980 Suzuki GS1100 just like the one I had. He easily won the Ameteur Superbike race and as was customary at the time, they would let the top 10 amateur riders run the Pro Superbike race to fill the grid. To...

Mobil 1 Motorcycle Oil and Filters: Where to buy in GTA?

Canadian Tire carries Mobil 1 automotive filters. The M108 is the filter that will fit 90% of bikes with a spin on filter. I’ve used them exclusively for years on all my bikes. Canadian Tire stopped carrying the Mobil 1 bike oil a year or two ago but I think Wal-Mart still does.

    Coronavirus

Don’t feel sorry about the isolation, I’ve used the time to learn how to make one hell of a Manhatten. On a more serious note, I had a friend that passed away years ago from kidney failure from a prescription he had taken years before as a child. That always left an impression on me. Later in life...

    Midwinter Blues 1, 2020 - Best Oil/Filter for Motorcycles?

I always use Mobil1 oil filters, the M-108 specifically. They fit almost every motorcycle on the planet with a spin on filter and are readily available at Canadian Tire.If you have enough room you can also use the M-110 which is about 1/2“ - 3/4” longer. I’ve used them on my VFR’s, an St1300...

    Need a snowblower....recommendations?

Do yourself a favour and get a Honda. The first one I had was an HS620 ( I think) single stage that I used on your basic subdivision type driveway.I worked the hell out of it and lent it to my neighbors every snowfall and still sold it for $500 when it was ten years old.It was light, easy to...

Heater -- Working on bike over the winter

Split plugs are history, they've been replaced with 20 amp plugs. If it's on a kitchen counter it isn't required to be on an arc fault breaker.

Heater -- Working on bike over the winter

You cant run PVC conduit in combustible buildings or return air plenums(in T bar ceilings). You would generally use EMT(thinwall) conduit for that. Get yourself a bender for about $50,some fittings ,boxes and you're good to go.Its a lot easier than it looks.

Heater -- Working on bike over the winter

If anyone has a mouse problem i suggest that you use AC90 (commonly commonly known as BX or armoured cable) for any new wiring. Its not that much more expensive and worth the peace of mind.I also suggest you use #12 AWG wire that allows you to use 20 amp receptacles. Also keep in mind that if...
