    I am not a cyclist

Really enjoy this channel. It's cool that he is from London as well, so lots of talk about Canada specific issues. Made me rethink the housing problem in a way that I now realize the issue is so much larger than any one individual factor (though zoning is something that is always on my mind...

Bent exhaust header flange on KLR650 / FMF Powerbomb Header

😂 I’m more of a duffel strapped to the back with rok straps kinda guy myself.

Summoned for Jury Selection / Duty

wow that’s brutal. I’ll try the financial hardship petition, and hope they take it… Guess it will be a dice roll. I’ve had friends who just straight up didn’t show up to selection, which is super bold, but I’d rather not risk jail…

Summoned for Jury Selection / Duty

So I thought this was something that only happened in the movies. I mean, I'm kidding, but when I got the questionnaire a few months back, I didn't think that I'd win (lose?) the lottery and get selected. Some preliminary research showed me that employers are not responsible for covering your...

Bent exhaust header flange on KLR650 / FMF Powerbomb Header

Very very visibly bent. Studs are straight. Supposed to be a 5-7mm gap from the flange to the manifold, and its almost touching (2-3mm space left). Cylinder mating surface was clean as it was straight from the machine shop. I might pull it to see if its aligned, but might not since I dont...

Cheep battery vs. a good one

I've had great luck with the AJC batteries from "Battery Clerk". I haven't charged the battery for two years, even when leaving the bike out over the winter. Actually sorry, the only time I had to throw it on a charger was when I left a parking light on overnight. Doh!

Bent exhaust header flange on KLR650 / FMF Powerbomb Header

Good to know its not a huge issue! I think I will leave it as is in that case unless it becomes a bigger problem. After finishing the top end I've honestly had enough of working on the bike for a good long wile

Bent exhaust header flange on KLR650 / FMF Powerbomb Header

So I finally got my bike together with the new piston and freshly worked head, and noticed that the flange on my FMF Powerbomb Header (KLR650) is now bent. It still goes on to the studs, but takes some force. I torqued the acorn nuts to factory spec (15ft/lb), and the flange is even more bent...

    Removing Gaskets on Aluminum

Quick update for all: Did a mix of plastic and metal blades, with brake cleaner to soften, and very careful scotchbrite in sections where the engine was plugged or far away along with a good clean afterwards with brake clean and cloth to get any particles off. Two days of running with the...

    Discovered another cool gravity sport

Downhill wheels are generally quite large compared to a skateboard so they usually go over stones OK, especially at speed, but it can definitely mess you up. Same as with motorcycles, you stay away from edges of the road if possible, unless you know it's been swept by yourself or another rider...

    Discovered another cool gravity sport

I used to do DH and Freeride throughout my teens in Toronto. Not too many big or long hills, but there are a few that are fun for sliding and building moderate speeds up to 50-60kph or so for a few hundred meters. Nothing like the multi-minute descents you find in other places though. How I...

    No more license stickers…

Do these inspections include bikes? :$

    No more license stickers…

The Student Loan thing is kind of a messed up situation on a myriad of fronts, and in my opinion shouldn't have existed in the first place. Some people were lucky enough to either have wealthy parents, or middling parents that could scrape some cash to pay for their kids schooling. Many didn't...

    2022 Trip plans?

Thermarest was exactly what I was looking at :) Going to compare models and such. The price is hard to swallow, but I need to sleep - so a one time big spend to make that possible will be worth it. I'm about 6'1, so I'm not sure what length is best to go with. I've read some people are OK with...

    Removing Gaskets on Aluminum

Thanks for the kind offer! Though now I should be OK on the gasket front: Looks like I will only have to clean one surface on the base gasket. The head is with Gord now too after finding out that my exhaust valve guides appear to be chipped. Hopefully I can keep the old valves and just have...

    2022 Trip plans?

Hoping to do a few this year! Big one will hopefully be an east coast round trip over 10-14 days. Not sure if it will be a Nova Scotia or Newfoundland type affair yet. Lake superior ride of some sort. Through manitoulin island, up to Wawa and back through Algonquin or something like that...

    Removing Gaskets on Aluminum

Jeeze thanks for the heads up, lol. Heat first, brake clean when it cools then

    Removing Gaskets on Aluminum

Head doesn't actually need any work for the bore kit. Just the jug. I was originally gonna leave the head as is - just though if I could get it cleaned with valves in that would be nice. Was gonna leak test valves with some alcohol or kerosene to see if they need new guides, but if they are...

    Removing Gaskets on Aluminum

The cylinder should hopefully be cleaned by the Machinist, and I want to see if they can clean the head without me having to remove the valves (though my removing them or not will depend on how they do in a leak test...). If they can clean the head with valves in, then I may be able to get away...
