Anyone do the laser eye thing?

My eyes started changing when I hit 42. I've had a new prescription the last 4 years in a row. Replacing glasses/lenses annually is expensive enough. I can't imagine dropping thousands on Lasik only to end up back on the glasses merry-go-round in just a few short years.

Anyone do the laser eye thing?

I got checked out for it several years ago, but was declined after initial assessment as I wasn't a good candidate for the surgery (untrackable eye movement). Now, in my 40's my eyesight has started to change a lot, and I got progressive bifocals for the first time just a few weeks ago (was...

Registering a Quebec plated bike in Ontario

I'm looking at a used bike that currently has a Quebec plate on it. The bike and owner currently reside in Ontario (Trenton, military town, regular transfers). What is the best approach to acquiring the bike and getting it registerd in Ontario. I'm of the opinion that the current owner should...

    Residential A/C freon top-up?

I had essentially this identical issue over the last couple weeks. I had an official / registered business check my central AC because it was no longer cooling. Low on refrigerant. They could not legally top it up, as the leak needs to be found and fixed first. The tech could not just "do it...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

In this scenario I often also use a hand signal (legal/appropriate MTO hand signal, not some random arm waving! - lol). If they don't see the signal light, the arm movement usually gets their attention.... and keep checking those mirrors!

How many kilometers do you put on your motorcycle(s)?

A bit misleading though, as apparently an accident at 177,000 miles cracked the block. He bought a donor engine and swapped 95% of his original engine parts over to the new block, and carried on. Take a look at his tear down / rebuild thread to see how the internals looked.

Messaged the seller asking what the actual mileage is since his photo is showing the trip, not odo. The response was basically "Whoops, you're right. The bike actually has 26,800kms. Somebody is coming to check it out, but if you're still interested..." "Whoops", my ***. It wasn't just the...

How many kilometers do you put on your motorcycle(s)?

Nobody is claiming a bike with 6 digit mileage will be as fresh as the day it was bought, but if you think 100,000+ kms on a modern bike with just regular maintenance is unachievable, "YOU'RE DREAMING". All the bikes you listed are from a different era. I would say a modern bike is nearly as...

    2020 Yamahas

I too am waiting for the T700, but the ride reports I've read so far seem to amount to a big "ho-hum", whereas the KTM 790 Adventure R ride reports are more along the lines of "best ADV bike I've ever ridden" (less so for the non-R). As mentioned, perhaps by the time the T700 reaches our...

    The daily commute

Ditto. I leave it in gear at stops so I don't have to think about shifting, or waste time getting it in gear, or miss the shift, if I need a quick getaway. Once stopped, I release the hand brake but keep my right foot pressing the brake pedal so that my taillight remains bright. Only left...

I'd be triple-checking the branding on that bike. Not sure what the rules are in Alberta, but Manitoba allows re-certification of a previously "salvage" bike, but that doesn't fly in Ontario. Wouldn't want to get surprised when trying to register at the MTO and end up with a track-only bike.

I see the price has now been dropped to "as is,price 6000 or OBO, cash only,no trade,no low ballers". Still higher than a brand new, certified, with warranty bike.
