Aliexpress

Is it just me, or has AliExpress drastically increased their shipping fees? I remember when just about everything on their site was super cheap, but shipping was (literally) on the slow boat from China. I was fine with waiting months for the lower price. Now, it seems they deliver much more quickly, but prices are in line with amazon and ebay, in which case I'd rather deal with them.

I’ve moved over to Temu for a lot of stuff that I used to buy on Ali. Spend at least $30 and you still get surprisingly fast shipping for free.

I see Temu ads. What is it? I thought it was a version of Ali Express.

I agree with Adri. I used them to get my crash bars that GP Bikes was asking for $500+tax. I think I ended up paying less than +300 with shipping and import duties.

Also, right now fc moto has a black Friday sale with 15% discount

Gonna print out screenshots of those first four words and stick them all over the house for the woman to see.

What I can get from Temu instead, I do, if only out of loyalty because they've sponsored my YouTube channel, but Ali still has a broader selection of crap I need sometimes.

Last night I spent $20 on Aliexpress for two items:

Lens protector
Ali - $4
Temu - $4
Amazon - $9

AC Power Adapter
Ali - $16
Temu - Not available
Amazon - $27

The good news: I paid $20 instead of $36.

The bad news: Instead of getting the stuff today like I would have with Amazon, I'll have to wait 2-3 weeks.

Some stuff I'll gladly pay a surcharge for, for the convenience of my next day deliveries with prime. Other stuff I don't neeeed, I'm happy to pay 40% less and just wait.

I’ve never considered buying through Ali or Temu simply because…I feel like rip off / cc fraud could be rampant (no justification).

Buddy showed me all the LEGO he buys off it for a fraction of the price. I assume it’s because it’s after LEGO sells the moulds once they’re done.

Also will check for some scrambler parts (center stand).

You guys use PayPal or your cc?

paypal.

I use PayPal as well. They're pretty good about refunds as long as you aren't sending money to people as "friends or family" (red flag for scammers).

Today I had to go through it with AliExpress. I bought a keyblank for a bmw back on Oct. 13th and still haven't received it. Looks like it got held up in customs November 10th and hasn't moved since (so well before the strike started).

AliExpress, good luck getting through to a rep. You have to tell the chat bot you have a payment error in order to get a real human.

Got through to a human. "She" was pretty useless, and then ended the conversation on me. Top points for customer service right there.

But that's okay because between taking screen shots of that conversation, and screen shots of the seller not being helpful, it empowered me to log in to paypal, file a dispute, upload the screenshots, and paypal gave me my money back immediately.

Yes sir, you're looking at a big timer, big spender... a man with a whole $7.25 back in the bank baaaaabyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

That is way too much work just click late and AliExpress sends the refund never had a issue or needed to talk to someone. In my experience the item shows up the day after the refund.

That wasn't an option available for this item.

Always use PayPal. Temu is interesting as their hook is that you can check your orders afterwards and if the price for the same item has dropped, they will give you a credit for it. My last order from them was 100% free. You have to be very selective in what you buy as a lot of it is very poor quality. I bought a helmet holder/wall mount rack and was surprised at how solid the rack itself was, but the screws were soft pieces of junk. So I just used different screws I had from Home Depot.

I dumped Amazon completely when all this BS with the US started, cancelled my prime and haven't ordered a single thing since, going exclusively with AliExpress now.

In the last 6 weeks I've ordered a bunch of USB-C cords in various lengths and designs, a bunch of home automation stuff (Zigbee door sensors, motion sensors, temp sensors, water leak) as well as some other home things.

All of it arrived super quick - the longest I waited for anything was 2 weeks, with most stuff arriving in about 1.5 weeks. Tracked all the way, right to my door. Everything has been great. Hell, almost every single electronic item is arriving in the exact same packaging as it would have been in for Amazon, minus Amazon being in the middle. **** Bezos, I've officially cut out the middleman and will no longer support them - I'll have a little more patience moving forward and not support the Amazon machine anymore.

Seems that others are feeling the same.

I do have a negative experience to report; and i'll preface that with saying i've been buying Aliexpress stuff for probably 4? years now with no real issue until now.

Ordered something relatively inexpensive (a key chain), it was reported as delivered...but not to my door. I lodged a dispute with Aliexpress and was told to provide 'proof' that i didn't have it in my possession. When I asked how I was supposed to do that they directed me to contact the local company doing the delivery...except i never received any info on who was delivering it or where i could contact them. I took screenshots of the tracking webpage etc that showed no contact info to no avail. Aliexpress sided with the seller and I ate my $8.

Now in full disclosure I live in a pretty badly designed townhouse complex, where every row of townhouses has the same unit numbers. Good chance one of my neighbours got it and just kept it.

Not crying over it, $8 is whatever..but some food for thought.

I have and will continue to buy from there...but i'll be somewhat more wary going forward.

There's always the option of doing a credit card chargeback if the amount of the loss was big enough to justify it. Although I agree, $8 item, not so much, but if it was a $50-$100 item, yeah, I'd feel very differently if they judged against me on a delivery.

Thankfully our house is easy to identify, we have one of those big script-letters thing over our garage doors with the house number on it, so delivery guys seem to be able to find it reasonably reliably.

Except the Uber Eats guys. I don't know WTF is with those drivers, but holy hell they cannot seem to get their deliveries right - literally 3 or 4 times in the last 8 weeks several of our neighbours have had issues with their food, twice with our neighbours food ending up on our porch. Thankfully we all recognize each others porch pictures from the "your food has been delivered" alerts so we just go back and forth to retrieve it, but sheesh...you had ONE job. I swear they must just drive along until their GPS says "your destination is on your right!" and then blindly follow the driveway to the porch without any effort at all to even look at the house numbers....again, our house number and street name is in giant backlit script across the entirety of both garage doors on the front of the house, but they still can't get it right.

Very strange I have filed a couple of no delivery complaints always got a full refund and then 2 weeks later the item shows up.

You should have taken a picture of your empty mailbox or your "Fu(K OFF" door mat as proof.

"see..... no package" 🤷‍♂️

Ordered a oil-fill cap from AE, cost me $25 vs a store price of $60, the quality of the item was the same and the order delivery tracking matched that of Amazon. It was delivered in 12 days vs the ETA of 15 days.
Also, was not dinged by custom broker fees.
AE used a courier outfit "Apple" for this order.

It was a first-time order and it worked out well.

Anyone ordered from Temu?

A few things. It was OK. I found that items didn't ship with tracking numbers like Ali though, so it was a guessing game when it was going to show up.

I also can't stand their website/app. All the kitchsy "spin the wheel" fake discount game things, the constant popup garabage, all the fake "sales". It drives me nuts, so I just avoid even opening the app anymore.
