Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

Awesome day.
...

Strangest thing I saw yesterday was a peddle bike (didn't look electric) pedalling away across the ice.

She turned on right away after 2 months of not starting it lol
Let it idle for a good 10 minutes and then rode it in the underground garage.

I'm excited

Why would you let it idle for 10 minutes? Is it an older carb bike that doesn't run right until warmed up?

Too cold where I am -14 this morning.

Sledding was good, 4 set of powder is a little much for my dinky sled.

I might try for Thursday, just not enough oomph left in me when I got home from work today after sleeping like crap the last few nights. Plus it had gotten windy and kind of crappy anyways. 12 degrees on Friday.

Saw lots of bikes out today. Saw one unfortunate soul almost get into a wreck on Highway 47 east of Stouffville. Clearly a new rider on a small cruiser, relying 100% on rear brake. That almost went very badly when it locked up trying to stop quickly for a yellow/red from 80-90kph. Managed to get stopped before high siding but I puckered on behalf of the rider.

Work appointment Tuesday had me see the temps at 15C from the cage display and wanting to hustle back for a little romp.

Temp started to drop but, took the bike out for a little run along the parkway. Find the rear shock a little jouncy and might need to search for a rebuild or replacement via internet. Don’t think ratcheting the spring load will make a difference.

Looking forward to warmer weather and will likely take the bike for some work trips when the weather allows.

Too chilly for a photo op but, next time!

Got out on Sunday. Rode up some snow piles at the mall. Went to check out a seasonal shutdown on a local road. No way I was getting up that mess...

Felt good to get out, even if it was only 30km.

Rode in to work today. Balmy -7 when I left home in Port Perry. On my ride in to work I briefly saw a motorcycle heading northbound on Baldwin in Brooklyn. I was southbound. Like most riders my brain is tuned to seeing bikes but this bike just seemed to appear out of nowhere. I didn't really see it until I was directly opposite me. I don't know what bike it was but it was dark, maybe black, and I think a sport bike or sport tourer.

Tomorrow evening looking like a strong prospect for the first ride of the year, minus a few dodgy hours in the afternoon.

Got the temps. Nice mid 20s...on the other hand
sigh....actually thought the wet had stopped.
Only time I miss Canada is the spring riding especially when the Masters starts early April.

not the summer? i thought the constant upper heat levels would be a problem?

I didn't end up getting out....went out for Mandarin for lunch with my sister and BIL and promptly came home feeling really unwell for 4-5 hours. By the time things had passed, the riding window had closed. 😩

I heard lots of bikes out though.

Next Wednesday is looking nice again. 90% of the snow should be melted by then. I'm still not tempting fate by putting the snowblower away or changing the cars to the summer tires yet though.
