Every single one of them is in a "community safety zone", I.e. fines doubled...
I wouldnt trust that database to stay current. Barrie only has three and move them every 90 days or so.
For @sburns yes, waze says speed camera ahead or red light camera ahead. I wish I could turn off red light camera notification as I don't run reds.

I meant that I get a warning for red light cameras, not speed cameras.

Ah ok but do you need to have a route, or just open the app and go. Most of the time I don't need a route because I know where I am going. But I will test it out.
Just found a speed camera a couple of weeks ago in my area that wasn't there before. In fairness there is a high school there, but it's on a main road.
You don't need a route.
Just open it and let it run in the background.
You can choose which kind of alerts you want to receive.

Why don't they put these "community safety zones" on dead end or side streets instead of on a provincial fuickng highway? Same when they build new subdivisions and put a brand new school on what will be a busy road, then put a stupid slow speed limit there. Planners are asshats.
To a large extend, municipalities drive planning with input from others. I wouldn't be surprised if school boards were also playing the long game and trying to get parcels that will be gold in the future. A busy street is a good location for a multi-tower development once zoning learns to ignore nimbys.
There are no guidelines for what constitutes a "community safety zone". It can be wherever a town council wants it to be. It can be wherever a noisy complainer complains to council enough. I can point to some pretty stupid ones.
Now, think MONEY. Long straight road engineered for fast traffic + stupid low speed limit "think of the kids" + community safety zone + speed camera. Ka-ching!

The red light cameras don't always run 24/7 like the speed cameras. It is potluck to which ones are active and which ones aren't. I for one always slow down near school areas regardless of what I'm driving/riding. As I grow older the more I drive within 10km over the speed limit.
Officially now double the speed cameras in Toronto. From 75 to 150.

With how safe it is now there should be no accidents!
To be fair, there are very few "accidents" now. There are a lot of crashes. Slowing down speeders reduces crashes but doesn't reduce accidents at all.

Ottawa has made over $41M with red light cameras. They were sold as improving safety. Surprise, surprise, not a single dollar of the generated revenue has gone to road safety. It goes to general revenue and the police Road safety fund gets allocated zero.
