I was just informed that some or all of the European maps that I have put on the FTP do not work. Apparently they are for the older version of iGO. Unfortunately the only source I know of tor the proper maps only allows individual country downloads through the f%^$@ng RapidShare:

If anyone knows of a location where complete european maps can be downloaded in a single file or without download restrictions let me know. In the mean time, use what is on the FTP with discretion.
 
The solution to that problem, Vlad, is that if those of us that are interested in Europe each download a section and then upload to your ftp server...

I am currently downloading the Netherlands because I want to see if it works. If it does, I will go on and download Belgium, Luxembourg, and maybe Germany and France.... in that order.
 
I was going to do Great Britain but what is the difference between NV(orange) and TA(white)?
 
Thats what I am testing first... they are two different data sets... I am trying the one dated 2008 and I will let you know if it works.
 
Netherlands works...

Download the white ones... dated 2008... not NAVTEQ

Keep in mind, these are only the map files... not the POI... so you will still need the POI files from the existing European files (I wonder if they are interchangeable?)

Anyway... I have the Netherlands... I will now download Belgium, France, and Germany.
 
Vlad: I've been trying to edit my website but of course Bravenet (The server that hosts my site) won't let me log on to the settings to redirect to Post 88. I will edit it to Post 88 ASAP.

Splash: Hmmm, I didn't realize that, thanks for the info.

Now, here in Newfoundland at least, I noticed a few of the navigation suggestions are obsolete and many instances the roads are no longer even there and haven't for some time. Is there a place to upload/download recent maps?

Oh, and I just learned Ottawa still have a ton of these units available.

Excellent Idea, thanks. I have moved European maps to \iGO data\map\Europe OLD folder. \iGO data\map\Europe is ready to receive tested and confirmed maps. I'll start copying some as soon as I get to testing them - I'm just a little overwhelmed with all the stuff that I'd like to do and have to start prioritizing a little.

There are POI EEU and POI + Alps files, also buildings and NASA dem (I have that one from elsewhere). I have downloaded Serbia and Bosnia before they split them again :)
 
New Europe poi are being uploaded to \iGO data\poi\Europe. The old ones are in the Europe OLD folder that will be deleted later.

Also, MortScript with all the necessary files and instructions fully tested (thanks bear22099!) is in \tools\MortScript. This trick will allow you to run the built in navigator when the SD card is out without any reconfiguration. Enjoy!
 
Anyone have AMY TTS? I don't like susan's voice and Kate is kind of annoying lol. I like Amy but no TTS on mine.

The last thing on my wish list. I dont know if its possible but I would like to be able to run GPS with voice and have music playing at the same time. Map and route showing with music playing in the background, voice prompts override the music.

Thanks for everything guys. This is the most fun I have had since my honeymoon. Wait....this is more fun, my honeymoon only lasted one night and I was passed out.
 
If anyone is looking for a waterproof housing for their GPS units, RadioWorld ( http://www.radioworld.ca/ ) has great pricing on the RAM AquaBoxes! I got mine for $25 and if you check around online they are selling for much more than that usually!

I tested my AquaBox with a Magellan 4210 GPS unit and did not have the same problem as a previous poster - I was able to use the touch-screen through the AquaBox without any issue whatsoever. Maybe try positioning the GPS closer to the AquaBox screen?

No.. but with one of the skin posted you can minimize the GPS and play a video... then the voice prompt will direct you where ever you go... I'm sure it works with MP3 also
 
quick question. I have everything working , but i dont see any 3d buildings and such. Am i missing something? I have gone to set up and really dont see much difference between 2d and 3 d mapping?

I'm sure you can multitask as I had it running like that for a short while when I was experimenting with Mio Pocket. I gave it up fast in order to concentrate on iGO setup, so I don't know if Susan would talk over music. The proof of concept is there though and I'm sure there are other ways to multitask - it's a windows machine after all, with dual-core 400MHz processor to boot :)

Which model exactly did you get? Does anyone have experience with Curtis GPS in the Aquabox?

BTW, it's funny how they have a padlock on the box while any 10 year old can unscrew that wing nut :). I replaced it with a bolt as soon as I got it.

While we are at checking online, I always compare RadioWorld with GPScity.com, just for good measure. Used to get 10-15% better deals at 'city, even with shipping included.

You are missing something, but it may be just a configuration issue. Try Settings / Map Screen Settings / 3D Visual Settings/ Building Visibility. If it's off, that's your problem. If not, play with settings a little or try another skin.

You are missing something, but it may be just a configuration issue. Try Settings / Map Screen Settings / 3D Visual Settings/ Building Visibility. If it's off, that's your problem. If not, play with settings a little or try another skin.

hmmm my skin folder is empty and when i go to settings like you said the skin icon isnt clickable???
I used the clean install with us maps file and just checked and the original folder is empty as well. Can I just get some skins that will work? Ok i just checked the .rar files too all 4 parts and no skins!!! The folder is there but no skins. Ideas?

Whoa, iGo8 is awesome! I was in dt and I realized that my car was running out of gas (I felt like Kramer's car salesman). And I did a quick search on iGo8 for gas stations and Mexican restaurants (we wanted to eat some burritos) and it bailed me out by finding the closest gas station (Petro Canada) and Burrito Boyz (great steak burritos!)
