Cheap GPS device @ Canadian Tire, may be great for warm weather rides.

To keep this motorcycle related, anyone got one mounted on their bike yet? Post installs please.

I'm going to mock it up on my machine and will post if it looks decent.

Mine wont come up with the 4 icons anymore. I've changed it to not start that yshell.
so now it does only by USB cable (non active sync)
To access registry add a registry editor to the SD card and install it to the GPS unit.

Just got a wal-mart flyer that has 8gb SDHC cards for $18 in case anyone needs them.

Mine gets stuck at Initializing Warning Data when I try to load iGo8
Any suggestions?

Actually, you can toggle between ActiveSync and USB storage mode.

I knew that, I just assumed for some reason that you cannot access the built in memory without ActiveSync.

* Please switch it back to ACTIVESYNC mode after you've uploaded files. I didn't on my first unit and when it bricked I couldn't access the registry.

Definitely recommended before any serious configuration changes are attempted.

Picked up a 16 GB SD Card from Canada Computers, not bad price at $43 tax in, with a lifetime warranty.

And I have this mounted on the bike, will post pictures later, took it for a 30 minute ride and worked perfect. The only problem is when the sun hits it you won't be able to see much. Would be perfect for an evening/night ride.

Since it has a hard drive (ithink) I will just use it in my tank bag(map holder). I will be using the original software 'cause theres no way I can figure out all that stuff that these guys are doing. My step daughter help me download 18 songs on a chip?? I also got 2 of Zeppelin that were live movie concerts....real cool.

Very good deal. I am a little picky and am trying to find Class 6 MicroSD. MicroSD is much more versatile and usually comes with the SD adapter, so there's nothing to loose. I carry a 4GB MicroSD as my USB drive - they don't come any smaller.

Oh yes, free shipping, no taxes and no duties on the above - The delivery might take a few weeks though.

Delete files in the "speedcam" folder and read the instructions next time :)

No moving parts and no hard drive, it's solid state. It's definitely not designed for vibrations most bikes would subject it to (Goldwings excepted :) ) so tank bag is the best place for it, IMO.

No worries. Come spring I'll bring my laptop to one of the meets and we can load all the guys like you up with software. By then we'll have all the wrinkles ironed out and the whole operation won't take more than a few minutes. 18 songs? How about the entire Zeppelin discography, together with album covers?

Vlad...i want to thank you for all your work with this. As well as Masalma(sp). I have had a great time fooling around with this. I havent been able to get Susan to work for me either but its not big deal. I am now playing with both the orginal and Igo8 and have found great features with each. I am at the point now that I am trying to decide which to use.

If you guys have some time, it would be great if there was an easy way to select which to use at start up. I can do it but Im thinking more about tech challenged people that wont know how to look for it when its turned on. It would be nice to be able to switch between both if one doesnt cant find an address and perhaps the other can.

Just a thought. Thanks again, it is fun

You are very welcome. It's a collaborative effort and I'm having a lot of fun doing it. Folks at work - a lot of them heard about it from me and bought one for them and their uncles :) - half-jokingly told me today that it's a top priority project. They are all waiting for me to put everything together so they can just clone it.

I was thinking about the same thing, but haven't got around to tackle it yet. I think the best thing would probably be to have it boot in Windows CE with shortcuts for several chosen programs on the desktop. A couple of navigational software, a couple of utilities, media players etc. First order of business would be to find shortcuts to the software from the default menu plus the way to shutdown the unit completely (AFAIK only default menu gives that option - all other just go into suspend mode). A way to multitask, like playing music while navigating would also be nice. I know, Mio Pocket offers all that, but feels a little too heavy and busy for beginners, not to mention that I don't really need about 3/4 of what's there. All ideas and contributions are welcome, of course. There's enough bells and whistles on and for this thing to keep a medium sized IT department busy for months :).

It's easy to add shortcuts to the desktop but every time you reboot (reset button on the side or the GPS crashes) the shortcuts are gone.

GAlso if u plan on loading all the NA maps and POI get a 4g SD card. Everything won't fit on a 2g card. I had to take out some of the west coast states like california, arizona, utah...Don't think i'll be needin those.

I don't know what else you are loading on yours but everything fits on a 2 gig card. Everything needed is only 1.2gigs. That's including the speedcams file.

I just installed Splash' setup and everything seems to be OK except TTS. I can get Amy to talk to me but she won't pronounce street names. Kate ignores me completely

Make sure you select Kate V3.3 .. Not Kate v1.0 ... It works fine with mine and everyone else's I've setup.
