Cheap GPS device @ Canadian Tire, may be great for warm weather rides.

Don't forget to thank Vlad for hosting the files, in addition to the other 2 gentlemen.

No worries. If I can save one poor sap from having to use the damn RapidShare, jDowloader and other crap I'm happy :). I'll soon be adding European maps and other stuff I gathered elsewhere. Stay tuned.

Vlad, I'd really appreciate if you could post up the maps for Morocco and Chile.. Part of the honeymoon.. Unapred se zahvaljujem :)

It was a scavenger hunt, but I got one!

I checked Newmarket first, nope.
Bypassed Aurora since they were out on Friday.
Richmond Hill North was out (I'd been told they had 20-30 on Friday. None now.)
Richmond Hill at Bayview and High Tech, success!

I'm not sure how many more they have. You have to go to Customer Care in the middle, wait for a zombie clerk to find a manager to unlock the cage where they keep them.

I only saw two cruisers the whole way.

Thanks to Vlad and friends for gathering the files together!

I wish I had the immediate need for the Morocco and Chile maps like you do. I'm currently concentrated on getting things a little more organized on that FTP. As far as maps go I think we have Europe, US and Canada fully covered and I'll keep adding new stuff as I find it. Nema na cemu :).

Here's something odd I've noticed with our iGO setup:

There are two nested IGO8 folders and the "higher" one seems to be redundant, but when I rename it I loose the use of the information that was there. I suspect that there is a miss-configuration somewhere that points to the subfolder instead of the root. It's getting on my nerves because it looks clumsy, redundant and it complicates maintenance. Any ideas?

I've got the same structure, but a little redundancy doesn't bother me as long as it works.
Are the European maps on your ftp site already? I would appreciate getting that from you as well, if I could.

Cheers

Call me anal, but it bothers me quite a bit :). I just hate redundancy - that's the reason why none of my domains begin with "www." :)

I'm working on them, will post as soon as they are ready.

it bothered me too.

Maybe we need an iGO8 installation from a different source. I found a couple and will try to test them soon. I'm going to help a buddy of mine set his up and will use it as a guineapig :)

Got mine this afternoon, CT at Main/Danforth has 2 left.
Thanks guys for all the uploads, Ill grab then all tomorrow from home.

just came back from a trip to ottawa on the weekend, and used the Curtis with iGO 8 , and it was very helpful, directions were easy, finding gas stations was sweet, and GPS lock was really fast, can't beat it.

Is there a reason that the hosted map files all contain the same files? Are they a continuous compression, if so how do I get winrar to extract them as a series? I'm not familiar with winrar only the old dos command line version.

each file is name as file1.rar, file2.rar etc.... so you need to download all files and then open any one of them with winrar, and it should unpack them to a specified folder.
make sure you have the latest copy of WinRar

I just d/ld winrar from the winrar site so it's the latest version. Perhaps it's going through all the files on it's own and I'm just not noticing.

Edit: Yeah that's it, I just didn't notice it move through all the parts. Thanks.

Same impressions here, I'll just add lighting fast route recalculation. Beats my Garmin in every single aspect except battery life and overall ruggedness, for one sixth of the price.

I'm working on re-packing everything in multi-volume ZIP archives. It should be easier for everyone to unpack. I used RAR heavily back in DOS days, but see no compelling reason to bother with it in the 21st century.

I'm familiar with both rar and zip so it doesn't bother me, just missed the file progression.

Anyhow a note. When I got igo8 working I noticed that the key press sound was obnoxiously loud. Turns out that once you run igo8 any sounds that operate throught the Curtis unit's shell (ie the "ding" button press) gets ramped up to max volume. The volume controls in igo8 options don't change it. So I went into the shell settings and muted the volume there. That got rid of the loud ding. igo8s touch recognition is a softer more bearable click and the voice sounds still work.

Still looking for a way to adjust the master volume in igo8.
