Chromeburner is bankrupt

Euro companies like Chromeburner and FCMoto are the best for buying Euro brands.

No crazy tariff/customs distributor mark-up and you get to spin the CRA roulette wheel on delivery, as to whether you need to pay duty or not. I'm about 50/50 on CRA duty. Still works out cheaper in the long run.

Unfortunately Arai is a Japanese brand, so I find their helmets are not as discounted as Schuberth, AGV, Nexx or other Euro lid brands.

Last order with FCMoto was sent by UPS…
Got smoked by their import fees.

I found the pricing on the Schuberth to be on par with the local Canadian pricing.
I was even thinking of buy one while in Europe later this summer and I don't know if I would save a whole lot.

I’m thinking about getting a new Shoei lid - either a Neotec or GTAir, because I want the internal sun visor and Shoei fits me great.
Is Chromeburner the best shop to buy from or one of the others?
I’ve never bought anything online from a euro store before.

Thanks!

Was looking for a GT Air 2 or a Neotec 2 if you have any suggestions on best place.
Riders choice and 613 had decent deals on these at the last Moto show.

Obviously 613 is in Ottawa, not sure if they will be at the show coming up.
Maybe reach out to Riders Choice and see if they still have any left at the discounted price.
These 2 models are now considered discontinued as the GT Air 3 and Neotec 3 are now out.

EDIT:
Actually GP also had decent deals on these but that was at the end of the season when I saw them there. Check their website.

I don't believe Chromeburner is a Shoei retailer. At least I haven't seen anything of theirs on their site.

Could be that it's not profitable enough to be selling a non-European helmet? The Arai's on CB are just a fraction cheaper than what can be found locally, after shipping+taxes factored in...

I got the Shoei GT Air 2 and honestly it's not worth the price. The visor removal mechanism is extremely awkward and clunky. The fit and finish is no better than my Bell and Scorpion both of which were a third of the price. I'm not saying it's a bad helmet, just that you can get something equally good for much less money. It's also only DOT, although that doesn't concern me given Shoei's reputation.

I currently have the GT Air 2, which I scored when they first came out for $600 brand new from a super deal. Previously had the GT Air and several Shoei's prior to that, so I do find that the Shoei's fit me really well.

I've never removed the visor on my GT-Air before or felt a need to, since it has the internal sun visor. Why do you remove yours?
I also remove the pinlock as soon as I get the helmet - never been a fan of them.

I've never tried the Bell or Scorpion lids, so I don't know how they compare, but I should go check them out to see how they fit and compare to the things I like about the GT Air 2. If they are lighter then that makes them much more appealing cuz the GT-Air is a bit heavy. If they are just as good and fit me well, I'd have no problem switching.

For me the things liked about the GT-Air 2 are:
  • I like that the sun visor drops almost right down to the top of the chin bar. Some other internal visors sit a bit too high which lets in too much light, or wind if I am choosing to ride with the main visor up and the internal visor down. I also really like the smoothness of internal visor mechanism when raising or lowering it.
  • The main visor ratcheting mechanism has strong detents, in that I often like to ride with the visor open just a crack. At well over 100km/hr, the visor stays in place and doesn't shut due to the wind pressure. My GT-Air and my Neotec will close up at pretty much over 80km/hr
  • I prefer the ratchet strap as opposed to the D rings, since I have to take my gloves off to use the D rings.
  • The speaker pockets perfectly fit the JBL speakers from my Packtalk Bold.
  • The ventilation works to keep me cooler or the visor from fogging up.
  • It's a pretty quiet helmet overall, even though I always ride with earplugs.

Don't you need to remove the visor to give it a good cleaning? At least that's what I do, it's hard to work a towel in there while it's attached.

Another thing I find about this helmet, is since the vent on top is so big, I'll often get big bugs stuck in there and that's really annoying to clean. With my Bell, it has multiple small vents instead of one big one so bugs are less likely to get stuck in them, especially bigger bugs.

I'm kinda nitpicking, it's actually a good helmet, I just don't think it's worth $1000 when compared to other options you can find much cheaper. My next helmet will most likely be a modular one, they seem like they're more convenient, like if you need to take a sip of water. I've avoided them in the past cause I read modular helmets were less safe than full face, but I think that's outdated info and modern modulars are just as safe.

Woah, how difficult is it to remove? I've been removing mine on all of my helmets pretty much every other ride to run it under the faucet with dish soap to keep it crystal clear. I find it so much faster to do that than apply soap and water with a cloth while avoiding streaking. Helps a lot with fogging too.

My current helmet is a Scorpion EXO-ST1400 Carbon that I got from GP Bike for a ridiculous price when they had no tax on top of a sale price - around $400. Fits great with the pump up cheek pads, but it's louder than my previous HJC carbon helmet and makes some weird noise which I think is the inner drop-down sun visor bouncing around. I also notice the drop down visor gets dusty really quickly, and I don't like the feeling of looking through 2 panes of "glass", so this will probably be my last one with this feature. Can you tell I'm really sensitive to optical clarity?

To clean the visor I use a thin cloth and it works perfect. I never the take visor off - I just clean it with my hand inside the helmet.

Totally agree about the big top vent catching bugs - that is a bit of a pain.

I'm the same with modular's too - avoided them for the longest time, but now they are really good. The 1st gen Neotec that I have is an ok helmet, but the 2nd and 3rd gen versions look perfect for me.

The last time I removed a helmet visor was over 5 years ago when I was still riding without internal sun visors. And that was just to change my tinted visor to a clear visor at night. In all my years of riding, I've never removed a visor to clean it. I just clean mine with spit or water from my hydration knapsack and if I'm out riding, I use my t-shirt to wipe it clean:)

Thanks for the info about that Scorpion - I was looking at that one too.

If I got a modular I would have to take up smoking!

For real.
In a past life I used to ride this thing wearing a beanie helmet and tshirt with a smoke hanging out my mouth.
