well since age isnt a factor here, the best plan is to get that upgraded to an M2 and then go for requotes. I assume you have a gap in insurance/licensing here regardless of your experience, so the insurance gods will consider you a noob and charge you accordingly.Just bought a 91 GSXR 1100. I only have M1. (don't judge, I am 50 and been riding bikes since I was 5 lol). my problem is finding insurance. anyone have any suggestions for restricted bikes?
Yeah I understand it will be expensive until I have some experience on paper, however I haven't been able to find a company that will insure thebike without 5yrs with an M2.well since age isnt a factor here, the best plan is to get that upgraded to an M2 and then go for requotes. its likely you'll be stuck paying through the nose (3-5k/yr) until you get some claim/ticket free years under that M2.
it's been awhile since i hunted around for sport bike quotes lol, but i don't doubt it's getting harder.Yeah I understand it will be expensive until I have some experience on paper, however I haven't been able to find a company that will insure thebike without 5yrs with an M2.![]()
They are trying to tell you it's the wrong bike, but "Just bought a 91 GSXR 1100" sounds like it is a done deal so now what? Do you have a household or tenant insurance policy of your own? If you inquire about that at the same time as bike insurance they might try to make it work. it's a shot in the dark at best.Yeah I understand it will be expensive until I have some experience on paper, however I haven't been able to find a company that will insure thebike without 5yrs with an M2.![]()

its a done deal, I traded for a 71 lemans convert. The bike is actually a 93, but its painted with the 91 color scheme. I don't have the bike in my garage yet. I am hoping to complete the deal this weekend. will post some pics as soon as I get itThey are trying to tell you it's the wrong bike, but "Just bought a 91 GSXR 1100" sounds like it is a done deal so now what? Thanks, that's what I am hoping. I no longer have the need for speed, I am mostly in love with the bike for nostalgic reasons. It'll be a "Sunday Driver" only. The bike is almost 30 years old, should be able to qualify for classic/vintage insurance.
Try these guys maybe? Ontario Classic Motorcycle Insurance | Mitchell & Whale Ltd.

It’s not for going out on a pleasure ride on any Sunday unfortunately.
