Will "Norton" live again?

TVS, the motorcycle manufacturing company has acquired Norton in an all-cash deal. The Company will probably operate Norton in the same manner that Tata (a major car manufacturer in India) runs Jaguar-Land Rover.
It bodes well for motorcyling!
The owner of the majority stake in TVS is a motorcyle enthusiast, he used to ride a Hayabusa.
TVS, had a collaboration with Suzuki and they also manufacture the BMW 310 models.

Interesting, I was reading about Norton’s latest filing just this morning.

This is good news. The legacy is far to deep to let fade away. Hopefully there is good things to come.

What is legacy? A logo?

What does a new Norton do for the average rider that a Japanese bike can't?

it's just having a broader choice of machinery. Perhaps for somebody a new Japanese, American, German, Austrian, Italian, English, Chinese or Indian bike isn't gonna cut it.

As for Norton's "legacy" they still make parts for the original bikes and people (like me) still buy them. It's not the original company, so it's not really a legacy though.

The logo is all that's left of what I consider "Norton". The name is all that's left. The last bunch of "Nortons" didn't even look like a Norton.
Any Norton "Legacy" got washed away when "Norton" was a T shirt company.
Nostalgia is a strange thing.

It is "nostalgia" that sells bikes with the "heritage" label. IMO Norton strayed way back when they introduced the Rotary (much before Suzuki did), but design-wise, some of the recent Norton iterations harked back to the times of their glory.
Lets wait and see what the TVS cash infusion does for the Norton.
Having said that, I doubt we'd see a new "Triton" based on the recent models of either brands.

I think its actually good news. Everything I read about Stuart Garner leads me to believe he was a bit of a crook and the whole thing was a bit of a Ponzi scheme. Apparently they were stripping bikes that had come in for warranty work to complete new orders. What a consummate, class A scumbag.

I think the actual brand is probably tainted now. It also appears that he had already sold a lot of the patents and intellectual property to TVS before filing.

To be honest, I did quite like the new Commando and Dominator, although I think the Atlas was a real mistake.

TVS are sitting on a lot of cash, lets see what they can do with the brand. I would love to see them succeed.

I also read that Keanu Reeves put in a bid on the assets. That would have been interesting

I think Norton strayed when they arrogantly ignored the "little" Japanese bikes early on.

Amazon Prime Video has a few old documentaries on UK bike manufacturers including Norton, BSA & Triumph. Not bad viewing , if you have any spare time on your hands..........
