Women in motorcycling

I want the girly colours AND the sparkles sometimes. Why not? I love being a woman. If I wear it everyday in normal clothes why wouldn't that transfer over to m/c?

It's not like you can't buy plain stuff, but good business sense would see you marketing to your biggest group. Males.

I think this is my mantra. Visor down and the next corner matters. Only after that corner does the next one matter. No hubby, no job, no family, no space for anything else in my head. It's very basic and I love it.
 
People need to look up Bessie Springfield and then stfu about women on motorcycles and that doesn't even account for the surprise twist.

I don't care if motorcycle manufacturers market to me. I am perfectly capable of making up my own mind as to what I want and going for it. Also I haven't found any lack of respect for me as a rider because I am a woman - at least not from fellow riders.

I do agree that some women do let themselves be pushed into settling, because they are afraid they can't handle bigger or more powerful bikes. Repeat after me - "you don't need to flatfoot your bike, you don't need to flatfoot your bike". Most of the women I ride with stick with cruisers because they have been convinced they need a lower centre of gravity and have to be able to flatfoot their bikes.

Having said that, I wonder if I was on a bike with a lower centre of gravity and could get more than the ball of my foot on the ground, I might not have been blown when I was trying to pull out from my parking spot on Pikes' Peak - maybe I should get that cruiser after all :-(

Seriously, women riders are just riders. I know both female and male riders who load everything on the backs of their bikes and ride half way across the continent (or further) on their own. I know both women and men who think an overnight trip to cottage country is a major adventure. As long as they are happy - who cares.

I've been riding 13 years, I'm on in years and can honestly say I have not met any two women riders I could lump into the same pigeon hole - in any respect of body type, age, bike, clothing, intensity of interest, etc. etc.

If it's any consolation with a 32' inseam and a very wide Russell Day Long seat I can only flatfoot it on one side. With OEM seat I can flatfoot it with both feet.
