Swarm of motorcyclezw spotted in gta

Re: Swarm of motorcycles spotted in gta

Not bothered by this either.. giant group rides are just a **** show regardless of crowd..

Agreed, but where do they draw the line? If they wanted to, they could say 4 or more similar vehicles in a formation. Any group rides I do are with friends and typically limited to between about 4-10 bikes total. If 100 bikes were going to show up, not only would that be a terrible ride (you'd create your own congestion), but it only takes a few idiots to ruin it for everyone. Same can be said for protests where 90% are peaceful, but 10% start looting or firebombing cars.

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

I wonder if police offered cash rewards or even bike part rewards for information on the riders identities would work - would be interesting to see where loyalties lie here...

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

I am not sure if anyone posted this but I know the intersection where the video was shot (the one from that condo) as my parents have lived next to that intersection for 30 years.

I wonder if these guys know that there is a redlight camera at that intersection and the fact they ran the red SHOULD mean that all of them that ran a red just got tagged on camera !? LOL

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

When you loan out your vehicle, that too is an action you should be held legally accountable for. A number of sections of the HTA already hold the owner responsible for various things even if they are not actually behind the wheel when an offence occurs.

That list of sections should be expanded so that an owner is responsible for defending against all moving violations even if they were not operating the vehicle at the time an offence occurred. The only out should be if someone else would step up and admit they were the operator at the time of offence.

What if the vehicle was stolen?

a large percentage of the bikes had no plates, or plates modified to flip up.. and I am sure a large number were probably stolen. The people who'll get caught from this are the ones that just tagged along, not the "stuntas" and ride leader(s).

This was funny. It was apoplectic.

It's interesting to see the people condemning these riders/stunters to the nth degree.
I don't agree with what they did however as someone pointed out, if insurance rates were not ridiculous then there would be a better sense of responsibility.
The laws are so extreme that the only option you are leaving is run...even if you stay and win a future trial...you still do not get your fees back and the mark on your insurance record is there...see the problem. Where is reasonable in the equation?

What has changed from then to now?

1. Youtube, social media, easy to show off, plan and meet, easy to learn how to do the stunts/ride.
2. cheap portable cameras, instant live streaming
3. living at home with more disposable income to spend on one's self
4. stunt driving laws (bill 172?)
5. the police's seeming us against them attitude today
6. self entitlement generation
7. 'kids' will be kids

There has and always will be the rebel element.
These riders have a forum to show off, and to do it cheap.
They will do what they are going to do, there will be a new wave every year.

As the adults in the room, we can either channel this problem or take the usual moan and groan at the 'kids' approach.
They used to have their fun in parking lots and industrial areas but now even that is illegal. We can keep trying to apply the pressure all we want, they will just gang up and rebel, while filming it as their homage of sticking it to the man.
How is the moan and groan approach working?

My prediction, their next year's ride will be LARGER. There is more of them and they see the media attention they got.
This is not new, they do it in New York and other states where the bikers just run wild and take over the streets.
All they have to do is hide their plates, wear black gear, tinted visor...and you have no idea who is riding the bike...see instant invisibility within a larger group for protection.

Well they brought awareness to riding motorcycles and the dangers of it...as they say, there is no such thing as bad press.

Remember, they already dropped the hammer on riders with bill 172...these riders pretty much just proved that is not a deterrent.
Until we are realistic and build bridges and allow/create outlets for them, the problem will continue. We finally made skateboard parks...problem 99% solved.
Just soften the laws and leave them alone to stunt in the EMPTY industrial parking lots and things will balance out.

Or we can keep on trucking with the us against them attitude to try and crush their spirit...how do we think that will work...remember, clearly these stunters have the X gene for high risk which provides them the rush...so this is a sport to them.

We have legislated ourselves right into the corner...even if we wanted to have stunt day on the DVP/parking lots, we can't provide the outlet because of liability issues. They are going to do what they are going to do, no different than drug users (needles) for which we are now creating safe injection sites to deal with that problem... We need reasonable solutions.

And before the usuals here jump on my case...you will have proven my point with that approach.

Re: Swarm of motorcycles spotted in gta

Yup, no one else gets injured when people use the streets for stunting or as a personal racetrack...I mean, if **** goes wrong it is just a motorcycle...not like is it around 400 lbs of steel moving at 150-200+ km/h with no crumble zones to lower the kinetic energy it carries when it hits something or someone....

Cuz that's totally the same as what transpired (at least in the vid I saw). This the new GTAM go to anytime somebody sneezes on a sportbike?

I like 1; tolerate 2; pushing myself at 3; I'll meet you guys there at 4 or above.. To each there own though. I get why people get up for it, just not my thing.

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

What if the vehicle was stolen?

That would require a formal police report at the time of theft, wouldn't it? That means that the vehicle involved won't just be sitting in your driveway when the ticket comes, right?

Most European nations now put the onus for various moving violations on the vehicle owner to defend. They have laws that require the vehicle owner to identify who was driving at the time of a given offence, and failure or refusal to do so means that the vehicle owner bears the penalty.

The ones that just "tagged along" are the ones who either by choice or by naivety give cover to the thugs. No sympathy at all for them.

I'm with -D-, just not intelligent enough to think or write it :lmao:

You're on point sir

How's that working out for them? Many of the wildest on road action vids out there come from Europe; -D-'s point made.

Shocking. Should they, as you recently put it, "Rest in pieces"? Would that make your day?

Hmmm. In the kingdom of the internet, nothing is a problem until it affects me personally.

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

Guess I'm lucky that all those bike thieves live down there.

I won't hold my breath that they'll smarten up though.

It's always someone else's fault.

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

Oh PUH LEEZE.

"Enjoying themselves" can be done in lots of other ways than endangering the general public by speeding, intimidating other motorists, blatantly blowing through red lights, doing wheelies and stoppies on public highways..shall I go on? Did you even watch the videos?

These are a bunch of inconsiderate dbags who have now put YOUR well being at risk every time you're on your bike simply because any member of the public who witnessed that, was stuck being an unwilling part of it, or saw it on TV or social media, now, to some extent, lumps YOU in with them. Next thing you know this is happening because every third motorist assumes you're a dbag too.

Get real and stop being an apologist for idiots on 2 wheels. It's also giving insurance companies yet even more reasons to justify jacking our rates. Remember that whole "we all get painted with the same brush" thing.
Amen to that!

High insurance is the reason for this behaviour, draconian laws are a reason for this behaviour? What a load of crap. Being a spoilt dick is the reason for this behaviour.

End all be all reason, no. But they do nothing to help discourage said behaviour, and in many ways, may actually help encourage it... (them v us mentality)

I really want to fly a plane. I think it's ridiculously expensive to do with masses of regulations but I've never once thought of stealing one for ***** and giggles. Yes that's a ridiculous argument but so is "I want to do X but it's too expensive to do it legally...therefore I will do X illegally". The only mentality here is "I want I want" and "me me" both of which most of us grow out of pretty quickly.

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

Keep perspective man... but if you want to use outlandish examples, be honest; do you believe no one builds and flys home built aircraft illegally in areas where they can get away with it? These clowns can get away with it because there are so many of them... I'm just asking why so many say **** it. Just a theory... I don't believe everyone who breaks laws do it just because.

You're talking about an individual more than likely doing what he did out of curiosity in an isolated area vs a gang of knobs being knobs in public for the sake of a few you tube hits and "cool story bro" fistbumps. Anyway...yes we all did dumb stuff when we were young but I don't remember doing mine in public. When I did do my dumb stuff the only person I hurt when it went tits up was me.

Re: If you participated in this ride smarten up!!!!!

And you're talking about AIRPLANES when we're talking about a pack of motorcycles
