Bright and sunny up here in the big O. A tad chilliy at -5c at 9:00am. Light dusting of snow last night, roads are dry and clear though. Was thinking of going for a jaunt this afternoon.
What? It actually snows in April? No way!

I was out this morning and did the MOST test, it only snowed for a couple of minutes, was rain for most of the time. Not too bad a day so far. I expect to be out on the bike next weekend for sure.

My DL650 was awesome this winter. I put my BMW K1300S away for the winter, but I winter-modded my VFR800 (winter tires, grip covers) as a backup winter bike.

The VFR800 is in the shop right now getting summer tires put back on as my spare/west coast bike.

It's snowing here and they brined everything last night.

Tomorrow looks nice and sunny...if you don't mind a high of -4 with a windchill hovering consistently around -14 or so all day. ;) I Feel bad for everyone doing the motorcycle courses this weekend, it's not going to be a fun experience.
As long as you dress for the weather its fine. We did 8 hours today, 15 of us, and I can't recall one person saying they didn't have a good time, and no one complained about the cold even once! Tomorrow will be colder, but I guess "fun" is in the eye of the behold. I had a freakin blast whipping around a little 125!

Just back from a run, be careful out there as the ice is back and the salter was out.

Ultimately you're right, but I got enough miles in during the winter months in much nicer weather that my interest in riding in temps on the lower side in the spring is waning a little. Ironic huh?

JP is just happy cause he's doing his course this weekend, hence the "8 hours". I can remember being crazy and excited enough about bikes to ride them anytime, cold, hot, whatever.

Yep, I could care less about the weather. I know if it's bad enough they won't make us ride in it. The course revolves mostly around safety and basics of the bike. Our day was cut short because of the snow today, but happy to report that we had a 100% success rate! Tomorrow I'll visit a Drivetest to upgrade to my M2 and call my insurance company, then picking up my plates probably tuesday or wednesday. We should go for a ride soon Iceman!

Congratulations. :)

Curious how they cut things short? It's such a fast paced thing with so much crammed into it that I can't see how they could cut anything out and not skimp in the training level somewhere as a result. I remember Sunday being packed completely full of the emergency lane change, emergency braking, tight quarters/low speed practice etc etc sort of stuff - ie, the really important things IMHO. If you're suggesting you're done and finished already (at noon?) they must have started the road tests right away this morning? They didn't even start the road tests until around 1-2PM IIRC on our day, and that was after an early start.

We stayed an extra almost 3 hours yesterday in anticipation of the bad weather today. Just enough time today for the evaluation and some final class time. I would definitely recommend this course to everyone, the instructers were incredible and everyone had a great time!

If you did 8 hours yesterday as you mentioned in another reply above, you didn't stay 3 hours extra...it's supposed to be a 10 hours each day, at least at Centennial, and Durham College shows 9 hours each day. We were there from 8AM until 5PM on the Saturday (so we got out an hour early), and Sunday went until around the same time, exams not finishing up until around 3PM and then we wrapped up in the classroom etc. Something isn't adding up. Not pointing the finger at you at all so don't take it that way, but rather I'm pointing it at wherever you did your course - I think you may have missed a lot more than you realize.

Congratulations! It's a nice feeling having gotten that m2 eh? We'll definitely get out soon, maybe a shake down ride through the Muskoka once this snow melts again.

I hope that you weren't asked to do the emergency braking exercise, after a long hard day yesterday.

Our instructor said we did everything except the final examinations on the first day. It was over 8 hours, I was excited, I said 8 and didn't correct myself, apologies to the grammar/time nazis. We did swerve and avoid, emergency box braking, serpentine and circles, tight s bends, stop and go, shifting through the gears, basics of a motorcycle, and more that I might fail to mention. I really don't care how long/whats involved in other programs, I've got me a fancy certificate and ready to upgrade to an M2. Nuff said!

We did indeed. And each of us made it through just fine. I think some are misinterpreting how in-depth this course really is. It is the basics of the basics. The first 3/4 of the day I was almost falling asleep! Admittedly I do have a fair amount of experience on my own bike now, but this course helped to identify some bad habits and inform me of some good ones.

Will you be getting a quick shifter this season? You can really punch your way out of Keswick and over the horizon with one of those. Just think, this is the beginning of a great future!

Wow you like super-edited my post lol. No quick shifter for me, I am no MotoGP wannabe. The only mods I am planning are a slip-on, some nicer levers and I'm really interested in a crash cage. I rode Flatland BMX for about 5 years and wheelies are in my blood! Safe, parking-lot wheelies that is.

I consider GTAM a super interactive experience lolololololololol, I don't think any GP riders ever came out of Keswick but maybe some wannabees. I will ask around.

Also did my course this weekend, we also ran through the sessions pretty quickly. Glad we finished up early today since it's snowing pretty good right now
