Looking at getting my second bike, novice rider, litre bike?

I dont personally know any new-ish rider who crashed a big bike in a manner where electronics would've saved them.

What I do know are lots of folks who have crashed due to going into turns too hot, or target fixation, or panic moves. A liter bike tends to make such things happen in more haste.

Impossible or guaranteed to crash? Nah, you might never even drop your S1000R. It will simply demand more care and attention on your part.

I also watched some reviews between the s1000r and the duke 1290, and another bike I forget, and everyone chose the BMW. Honestly every review I see of the BMW everyone thinks its the best bike they ever rode or close to it, I could be getting confused between some reviews of the double R though... I feel like the s1000r would be pushing it enough, with the rain mode on the HP would be like 130hp... but the Duke is like almost 200 I think..

Thanks for the suggestions, keep in mind one thing I'm considering is seat height, I need something under 33"... preferable 32 or under... 32.5" would be ok though..

That other bike must be the Tuono. Most reviews picked Super Duke as the winner, a lot of torque equals more fun to ride but this only applies to experience riders. From all those 3 bikes, I found S1K R to be the most "tame" bike because of its I-4 engine. Don't get me wrong, the bike is still fast but the power delivery is very linear which is completely different from the other two bikes. I also found it the most comfortable bike to be on for long distance, but for spirited rides/track I prefer the other two.

The S1K R also has the lowest seat of all 3 bikes, better for short riders. My advise for you is to stay with I-4 bike if you decide to go with a bike bigger than 750 cc. You can go with triple or twin if you decide to go below 750 cc. There is also a new bike that people haven't mentioned here which is GSXS 750/1000. I haven't got a chance to test ride it so no comment on its performance/comfortability.

I think you should just buy it for the sole reason of ending this thread and make most of us jealous.

This right here is the best statement. OP buy the bike. Make us all jealous and ride the hell out of it (safely of course!)

I don't really have much to add, but OP, I've been riding for almost 10 years, mostly on a Monster 696. I've toured with it, tracked it, and everything in between (60K total). I have also taken racing school (Racer5) and even ran a race with them. I *still* have not mastered my bike, or riding in general. I would recommend sticking with what you've got for the time being and try to squeeze every ounce of performance out of it. When you then upgrade, the transition won't be daunting.

FZ-07 or

FZ-09 if you think you can handle it.
Some here would wince
Ehhh not the FZ09 - first of all, the issue seems to be comfort so unless the OP wants to spend 600 on a Corbin seat stay away.

Secondly, I have no problem with someone new with some ridi.g skill getting a 600cc bike but getting the FZ09 is not a good idea, I have a GSXR 1000 fully race prep and I think the FZ09 is scarier and once in a while it gets me by surprise if I am not paying attention.

So stay away from the FZ09, maybe an FZ07, FJ09 or the new Suzuki are options.

Good luck OP

I demo'd the GSXS750, plenty of power and really all-day rider. The 1000 isn't here yet.

Had an FZ-09, concur with your assessment.

I think it's a combination of the Geometry, Rough Fueling (aleast the version I had) and the suspension. Ridden GSXR1000, 1190's, 1290's etc and the FZ-09 was a LOT more unpredictable.

I can easily foresee a new rider wheeling the FZ-09 right into the back of a car or something. Combine going over a bump with a slight twist of the wrist would easily bring the front end up.

I hear they fixed the fueling though..... If you're hefty like me (215lbs) definitely need to upgrade suspension.
