I had sent an email a couple of weeks ago to RACE. I was wondering about the lwt prod'n and lwt sbk classes. At that time RACE had not changed their "list of available classes" at RACE. I was politely trying to tell them "you need to update your website". Chris wrote me back and stated "tell me what bike you want to use and we'll fit you in somewhere. ?! It seemed odd to me. I really like shannonville and its location, (I know, I know, it has some shortcomings). I don't know what to think about the situation.. I might just end up spending my limited fun money on track days rather than racing.
If a specific question is asked and a specific answer is not given, that is a bad answer.
Well the first "question" wasn't a question at all if I'm reading it right.
no, it wasnt a specific question, it was a suggestion that race update their website to confirm the classes that WILL be run. The answer I got "we'll fit you in somewhere" seemed a little odd, as it makes planning for a competitive bike (or ringer) difficult if not impossible.
that question has already been answered, "we will fit you in somewhere" what I'm looking for is "a bike with an advantage", a ringer w/o cheating. a 40 hp gs500 with its relatively wide wheels would likely be at least competitive against cbr 250's and ninja 300's. If I am going to spend some time and money on a gs500!? I want to be assured of the class I would be runnin in.
the sport is waning. and it is sad, when in april, you dont know if your intended class will even be run. Nobody knows if the lwt prod'n class will even be run.
Let me assure you Lightweight Production WILL be run.
Edit: at least on weekends that I go. And run the Sportsman Light. There will be 250(s) out there in that class too. And it will be my vote that Lightweight Production and Lightweight Superbike not be grided at the same time.
I like your confidence - I don't know what the req'd minimum entries would be for the lwt prod'n class to run, but how many 250s were running on the weekends that you went?
and it wouldn't really be too bad being gridded with lwt sbk, if the bikes are scored separately for each class.
so, what is your estimate of the number 250's bike on a typical weekend?
There will be 2 to 6 per weekend.
