HELP! No G/G2/G1 license, ONLY M1, 26y/o, clean record!

As the title says guys,


Here's an issue; SF won't insure a bike unless you have your full G license. TD will insure, but their rates are rediculous($9k+ for an 09 R6, is that normal?). I'm looking for help from you guys with insurance experience. If you can direct me to companies that are willing to insure an M1(will be getting M2 of course) license holder, 26 years of age, clean record/no record.

You are not going to get a reasonable rate anywhere but State Farm, and SF won't insure you without your G1/G for a minimum of 5 years. Have you considered anything that is not an SS?
 
What Mina said. That and never ever buy a bike without checking insurance first. Td is likely your only option at this point.
 
Just musing over the OP stats. Isn't an M-1 just a written and test therefore zero experience? Zero experience on any vehicle (No G)
Doesn't think ahead (Buys bike without thinking about the whole process).

I'm surprised it's that cheap.
 
The ONLY way your going to find ANY thing close to reasonable given that you don't have a "clean record" you have NO record in the eyes of an insurer, is to sell the bike NOW, (likely to get more at this time of the year than in mid summer). Then buy a 125 or 250, (both of which are better suited to a person with ZERO driving/riding experience). Then get your G1 as well. You may never drive a car, but it will help with insurance down the road.

Even with a 125/250 the rates are going to be high for a couple of years.
 
So, zero experience on the road, car or bike, and your first vehicle is a 600SS?
You don't have a clean driving record. You have no driving record.

Im totally a noob on this subject, but with my 06 zzr 250 TD quoted me just over 1300.00 a year with my m1 but i would need to take the course and pass it before actually being able to get insurance. I've never had a g license before either.

There's nothing wrong with that. When you do your m1 do the go anyways and carry on from there. You're also insuring a 250. The op of the thread wants a 2009 r6 which is why the quotes are so high.

I do realise it was an 09 r6. But i figured I'd add my two cents as a perspective.

Others suggested to the op to start with a lower cc and others said td was crazy high. Td was actually one of the cheapest quotes i found. I'm not sure how much they factored in my age though.
 
I'm the same. Granted I'm a touch older than 26, td is by far the cheapest for me. For people like yourself who have looked into it or actually thought it out you can find decent bikes and insurance rates. Those who just jump to a ss with no license or insurance history should learn to think before buying.
 
Thinking is overrated..lol Just surprised the OP didn't get a litre bike, that would be the only way to go...lol

This is by far the best thread.
Sell the bike and get a lower cc bike for now to build up your insurance record, or just take the plunge and drop the 7k :D.
