Dane Westby dies in street bike crash

The Wolverine. Hard to believe. He used to make fun of being a foodie. Burger run? That's terrible news. The AMA will certainly miss him. RIP Wolverine.

He survives this horrific 2011 Daytona crash... Josh Herin elbows his front brake lever at 180 MPH... and he gets smoked on the street. Say's much for street riding!

This is why I ride with a camera .. no speculations .. your loved ones are not left asking questions ...

That's a really dark reason to ride with a camera... sounds like you're expecting to die, and your goal is to bring your family closure by enabling them to see the footage?

Being an ex copper I ride with the camera to capture if ANYTHING, including my demise should happen. The footage wouldn't be "viewed" by your family it would assist investigators. If the family requested access to the video it would be provided on a case by case basis. They aren't going to further traumatize the family by allowing them to view graphic images they would likely show video up until point other vehicle was seen and then it would go black.

When I first got a camera, an opp cruiser pulled up beside me on the 401 in stop and go traffic asked why I was recording I told him "to make your job easier if something happens to me you'll know why and how it happened"..He smiled gave me a thumbs up and left.

But regardless of what we do, incidents like this just reminds us to be mindful and respect the bikes we ride and other road users. No matter how good a rider you think you are you can't control all circumstances.

LOL. You specifically said that is why you ride with a camera.... so your love ones are not left asking questions.

I never said you WANTED to die, you made it sounds like you're EXPECTING it. Why don't you reread your post.

Either way you sound like a weird dude. Goodluck out there.

Oh. Well that's normal behaviour then. For a female. I don't understand very much of what females do. :D

"You lost 15 friends on motorcycles? and you have only been riding since 2008? was this a group ride that fell off a cliff or are you being serious?"-ZX600

There had to of been another car. Whoever it was that pulled out in front of him should turn themselves*in. Or TPD should actually investigate why a professional rider would veer off the road and crash. The person responsible should be charged with Involuntary Manslaughter.

If they even realize they did. Saw another story that one of his crew members went to accident scene andwith the way the bike's skid marks were he thinks someone had to pulled out in front of him from a fast food joint across the street from impact point.

I agree Aonarach, I drove by the scene last night. I have left those fast food exits myself and dread*using them due to their proximity to the light when turning left/north across traffic. I have almost been laid down off of a bike at the very place due to the same speculated circumstances. It was incredibly eerie to drive by that scene. I immediately had a guy instinct as to the likely cause. Rest easy, brother.
