Yea down town cyclists are pretty nuts. My bike broke down a few years ago and I stopped halfway in a bike lane and half way in a cab stand on Bloor by Bay and while on the phone the person I was meeting to tell them I would be late, a jerk bike courier clipped by mirror. I was standing right next to it. I can imagine what they would do if you were not there.

You'll be lucky if you'll find your bike with just a ticket...
this makes me ****ing angry, I posted a pic a couple weeks ago, sunny day, this entire strip was full of maybe 20-25 bikes of all types. it looked great.
**** this city. I'm gonna punch a cyclist in the mouth just because.
Someone should overspray those bicycle icon signs into motorcycle icon signs. All of a sudden a 'motorcycle' lane !
Don't blame the cyclists. Blame the city planners. Why is it people think cyclists are entitled yet apparently motorcycles are in Toronto and are owed free or convenient where ever they want parking :dontknow:

Are you guys for real ?
The city decides to acknowledge bicyclists and give them a lane and you whine over it because you no longer can park at your favorite spot![]()
At some point, car and motorcycle drivers may understand that every cyclist on the road is one less car, less traffic, safer driving and more parking.
But, it seems the point of GTAM and buying a bike is to just ***** about everyone on public roads..so who is entitled?
Are you for real! Simcoe was one of the easiest streets to cycle down because of the wide lanes and limited amount of traffic. So the only real improvement for cyclists is that they can now "legally" go the wrong way on a 1-way street, and BTW, that $400,000 price tag largely goes to the cost of dedicated cyclist signals to allow them to go the wrong way.
The other cost is the loss of on-street parking for no real gain. Since the City also approved 300 dedicated motorcycle parking spots last year and Simcoe was a regular spot where motorcycles parked, you would think that this would be a better use of the space. Considering that motorcycles are not allowed in most commercial underground garages, and some surface lots, and that the City has increased the time restrictions for rush hour parking on main streets, these few side street locations are getting more use, and harder to find. I guess we need our own lobbyists. Problem is, we could never compete!
On reddit a lot of people were talking about knocking them over, so I'd be weary of parking there regardless of the lanes not actually being finished

Yup. Downtown cyclists largely see themselves as the chosen ones, entitled to do whatever they want and to hell with the rest of the mere mortals. I work at Yonge and College and the city planted trees in front of the new condo tower, Aura. Poor things were barely in the ground before cyclists started locking their bikes to them and the saplings suffered damage. Spoiled little whiners argued that they wanted front door parking; apparently the bike stands all around (including across the street) were too far away for these champions of health and Mother Earth. That just goes to show the ignorant attitude these types of people have.
Glad I don't ride downtown.
