My First Rant!

LOL I should have never mentioned the beer.... so now I am drinking a beer, got to love working from home :) Yes a Stella of course.

Had to do the wtf are you crazy hand motion on the 410 southbound yesterday. Person in a white full size audi almost lane shared with me. Thankfully they totally backed off after I did my hand motion.

I had to do both Hand and Foot before she realized something was wrong with her move....

I've found an airhorn helps in these 'wake up the driver to their surroundings' situations.
Be warned, they could be spooked and spontaneously com-bust.

My understanding is that "Stella" is called the wife beater because of the movie "Streetcar Named Desire" with Marlon Brando. The part where he screams "Stella" - check out the t-shirt Brando is wearing. That t-shirt, my friends, is a 'beater.

Got that from a barkeep and it may be true but I was drinking so who knows.

I always carry some nuts and bolts just in case I need them for the bike LOL or for dishing out some justice.

I assumed the wife bearer association was due to the strength of Stella versus other UK beers. They serve the draught around 4% while Stella (and a few others now) come out the tap at 5%.

Doesn't seem much, but when your young and chucking them back, it quickly turns messy.

I've had only one lane-sharing incident since I moved to Brampton 6 years ago, and of course it was one of the very few times my wife was with me. Ugh. The funny part is, she was more ****** than me!

This past Friday in the sleepy city of London, I had a lovely lady in a rush driving a black Hyundai Santa Fe decide she needed to pull up beside me in the right hand lane. The lane was wider than normal to accommodate the bicycle lane. I looked right at her in disbelief and ready to give the SUV a boot when I noticed she had a crazy look. While I know I was in the right and there was plenty of witnesses, I just didn't want to chance setting her off and becoming a statistic. She did back off but, I have to say I was pretty nervous with her behind me. Thankfully she did turn off the road a block or two later. My heart definitely skipped a beat or two having a vehicle pull up right beside me in the same lane.

My first year of riding trying to get to Mount Pleasant by Jarvis, an airport limo squeezed in and passed me on the right using the bicycle lane. So not only did he almost hit me with his mirror had I not moved to the left a bit and not fully into the left occupied, but he also could have taken out a cyclist.

The world needs land sharks with tasers. Speaking of Land Shark, that beer isn't too bad ;)

To be honest I learn to live with stupid people. Nothing I can do about it. Smash her mirror, kick her door in. Not worth it.
What goes around comes around, sooner or later. Karma. I still enjoyed my ride without getting upset.

Exactly - I can't control what other people do, only what I do. I give myself 5 minutes to say some really bad words which would just be blanked out here anyway - then shrug it off and refuse to let it ruin my ride. You can bet if they have noticed or cared at all, they are over it in five minutes - my time belongs to me, not to them.

Good for you. Truer words where never spoken. It is about the ride not getting stupid people upset us.

Not that it wouldn't happen anyway but I think e-bikes have made this worse. They're treated pretty much as bicycles and a lot of people can't tell the difference between us and them.

Yup, I've had to remind a few drivers at stop signes that I'm not on a e-bike and they are required by law to stop behind me. They always look so confused.

Personally I've always fantasized about carrying a can of fluorescent pink spray paint. They wouldn't soon forget a big pink penis on the side of their car, although it could be hard to draw at speed :lmao:.

Probably want a flip up license plate too.
