Welcome to Toronto Traffic

That's number 2 on the list. Number 1 is teaching people how to drive.

well, this one was due to the closing of the express lanes on the 401. Bikers should be given more leniency when it comes to heavy traffic on the hwy and be allowed to use the shoulder as long as it is done at a certain speed.

When the idiot cagers jam the regular lanes and bikes plug the shoulder how do the emergency vehicles get through?

How would bikes plug the shoulder? if you see emergency vehicles approaching then you obviously get out of the way. Get back into the lane. There is enough space in between cars for bikes to get in.

The last thing an emergency vehicle needs is a bike slowly driving along the shoulder looking for someone to let him in. Most bikes are 7-8 feet long and few drivers leave that much room in stopped traffic so the butt end of the bike sticks out onto the shoulder blocking it.

And yes, some drivers are vindictive enough to block you out just to see you get reamed by the cops, even if that means delaying an emergency vehicle.

I get your point and I could argue more but I doubt it will change anything so let's just agree to disagree.

People don't move out of the way of emergency vehicles now as is, never mind actually moving to let someone in to make room. Regular traffic belongs on the road, not the shoulders.

Was driving home to Mimico from Richmond Hill one sunny day. Took the DVP. As soon as got onto the Gardiner traffic comes to a stand still. After moving less than 10 meters in an hour, took an exit ramp and went for a drink downtown. Awesome times.
:D

They can build a Mcdonald or tims from ground up to opening in 1-2month.

Takes 6 months to fix a pot hole the size of a pop bottle. Even then it's only shovel some bags of home depot asphalt into it and wait for cars to compress/scatter it.

This. Really does baffle me. Same in Peterborough honestly. My cousin worked for the city, and actually quit and became a roofer ( taking a good pay cut ) just because no one ever worked, they just sat around, drank coffee and shot the ****. Most projects have a completion deadline, and they will just kick their feet around until the last few weeks and then rush it done.
