Kriega tail bags.

The Kriega setup:

40 litres (20l + 2 X 10l). The 20 is stuffed but the 10's still had room in them... I'm wondering if I needed both 10's!

30 litres (20l + 10l).

I just realized I didn't take any pics of the 20l alone, nor with the 10l alone and filled. My intention is to leave a 10l on the bike at all times for when I need storage (I hate back packs on bikes).

Is everyone still happy with their Kriega tail bags? Considering them instead of hard top case.

Nope... but only because I can't use them with all this ice and snow around. The bags are great, and truly water proof.

Kriega's are great, my wife and I use them when we need to carry more than what our side cases will hold. I sometimes miss the top case from my old bike though, it was definitely the most convenient.

Debating between a US 30 and a US 20 will the 30 be too big for just rain gear , gloves, tire repair kit etc. that I normal carry on a day trip.

Would also be using it to carry my laptop when I ride to the office.

I think the us 20 should be fine.

I use the US20 for day trips carrying pretty much the same gear with no problems.
I use it for work too. I can fit in the following items: 15.4 laptop and power cable, rain pants, pair of casual shoes (size 9), and lunch (couple sandwiches, yogourt, fruit, etc.). It's a bit snug with all that, but it can take it. I've been tempted to add on the US10 so I can put my shoes in a separate bag. ;-)

An alternative is to use a Kriega backpack and bungie-net it to the back if the rear seat is large enough. That way you have the flexibility to take the bag off the bike to go hiking around, or if you need to carry the contents around with you. Plus the backpacks are very ergonomically designed for bikers.

The US30 tail pack and a 10 litre tank bag provided more than enough luggage space for my recent 7 day ride. Went through 2 rain storms including leaving the bag on the bike while I took shelter for 2 hours of rain. Everything was bone dry in the bag!

Easy to mount and the carry strap made in easy to take to the hotel room at the end of the day.

Have also discovered this week that the US30 also fits my laptop in its case, shoes, pants and could easily fit rain gear, lunch etc.

Highly recommend Kriega tail bags.
