Cherrypicker Racing Website

I saw it coming years ago, but Brundl didn't want to hand off the reigns to anyone else. So yes I think it's done. It was done a year ago, I'm surprised he left it running so long.

I must have missed it. I've talked to him at least three times previous. Oh well... I can send him off another, I suppose.

Just FYI, you couldn't run the site as it currently stand, the forum is ancient software and doesn't appear that you can upgrade it from its current state.

The TF forum is just waiting for someone to use it... pile in anytime you want. It's fast and has a lot of features, certainly better at most things than the CP software. I'll see again if John will hand off the responsibility.

See my signature. The FB page is going well, the forum not so much, but it's there for the taking and works better than CP's ever did with embedded video, uploadable content and lots of other features. Additionally, I have figured out how to keep the spammers out, which was becoming a major issue for CP.

Depending on the time you want to spend, you could change it to admin activation for new accounts. I ran a few forums years back and moderated it that way, but they were small forums basically for friends (organizing mountain bike rides and poker games lol), so it wasn't a huge workload.

I do better than that... first post has to be moderated as OK. Until it is, a user can't post again. That separates the spammers out instantly.

Yep that works. Same deal with workload though. If the forum ever took off and new users were frequent you would end up with lots of work to do. I guess at that point you could nominate some friends to help out as mods.

Ehh... it's not all that difficult with the way it's set up, to be honest. The majority of accounts on CP were spammers, BTW. That's why he shut off registration years ago.

I have a dedicated computer that’s on all the time if you need a host. Its the comp the bitminer is connected too.

My system is a retired RAIDed web server hooked to multi-gigabit Internet lines, protected by a 30KW UPS and cooled by dual water-dump air conditioners. I think I'm OK for the web site setup... lol
