does anyone know a shop where I can get a luggage box bracket welded ,
thanks
the bike I Kawasaki concours and is my daily driver, car hit me last week ,cracked the side box and bracket , also the back mudguard
I have plastic welded the box and mudguard now have to deal with the bracket
ps this was a hit and run , the cops and insurance company were useless

I am looking for aluminum welding as well. I can weld alum. but I dont have the equipment. Electric welding is the way to go since gas welding means heating the piece too hot which may warp it.

Anyone with an electric welding machine should be able to do it. He just needs the welding rods and flux maybe to do it. Can be tricky though so be confident of the welder first

Vangro Welding
726 Dundas St E
Mississauga.
905 279 6082
South East corner of Cawthra and Dundas.

He has a TIG welder. You want to use a TIG welder. No sticks, no gas, TIG.
... but I think he's closed till the new year.

Just make sure you have the cost of the job before hand, and he don't add extra to the agreed price after the fact....

Minor correction, his shop is in Oakville. He did a small job for me last month, excellent as usual.

Long gone. Owner moved to Sarnia over 2 years ago. He was good and did all my aluminum welding.

I remember you recommending him. Got some welding there

Is it worth to weld over stripped threads of my oil pan and tap new threads or should I just buy a used pan for like $50-$70? You can pm the price of labour if you don't want to post it

If you clean and prep it for me ( good spray and grind / brush) I'll make sure I help you out so it's cheaper then a new to you pan

Another option is to cut a bigger thread and just use a bigger drain plug.

Ok, thanks. I'll let you know when I open it up in the spring...

Yeah, that's already been done. The plug was too tight to the thread insert, and both came out as 1 on last oil change. It leaks now

Drill hole to suit aluminum dowel. Weld dowel into place. Start new hole from scratch.

I wasn't talking about helicoils and all that crap. I was talking about drilling/tapping A BIGGER HOLE and then using A BIGGER DRAIN PLUG. So no inserts. I don't trust'em.
