Looking to replace my current clip-ons and foot pegs. What would be some of the better brands to go with? I know of Vortex but that's about it. Also i notice alot of foot pegs coming out of China, how easily do they break?

You mean rear sets? is this for a track bike?

A lot of aftermarket rear set pegs are really hard on your boots, vortex ones are really bad for this, if your doing it for looks , get your oem rearsets and foot pegs powdercoated black.
Aftermarket clipons for a street bike are kind of a waste, a lot of money for bars you barley see IMO

Aftermarket rearsets (no such thing as a replacemnt aftermarket foot peg for oem) have a much better feel for shifting and offer tons more grip. My vortex set didn't really do any damage to my supertechs in 2 seasons of racing, I know they were trying to minimize the damage it did to boots so maybe I have a newer design? Unless you've bent your oem clipons then leave them but if your looking for a bit of a bling factor the renthal clipons are defiantly the nicest.
If you are buying rearsets for a street bike, a lot of aftermarket footpeg brackets are designed for racing and have no provision for installing the rear brake light switch. There are ways around it but it adds to the aggravation factor of installing them.
Also, on some bikes, solid footpegs may be stronger than the tabs on the frame where the footpeg brackets attach. What would you rather break if you crash - the footpeg, the footpeg bracket, or the frame of the bike?? There is a bit of compromise necessary here. A designed-in weak point is not necessarily a bad thing.
My race bike has stock folding footpegs on simple relocation brackets. I have one street bike with aftermarket rearsets ... and I found a set made in Thailand that are good quality and with provision for installing the brake switch and with folding footpegs!
If you are just replacing the footpeg, stock usually fits and works best, and frequently they are plain cast cheap material no different from aftermarket and will break just as easily.

just FYI - with aftermarket rear sets your exhaust heat shield wont be able to go back on (the one next to your right leg)
Vortex rearsets come with a bracket to keep your heat shield in place.

I suppose these questions come to mind as i find myself leaning more towards tracking my bike in the future. Seem to be getting a little bored of riding streets specially in and around southern ontario for the last 6yrs.
Even thought about changing up the bike altogether.

Or not. I broke the mounting bracket on my Vortex V1 this summer. Vortex no longer supports this product. Still looking for a replacement.

What problem are you trying to solve?
he is trying to solve a very common problem called "lack of Blinginess" it happens mostly when frequenting tim horton establishments and hang outs like L&L - very serious problem
I have/had Harris rearsets on my STREET zx10 and my Gsxr race bike came with lightech, both are much nicer than my vortex however getting parts for the Harris set isn't easy and the lightech were meant for very small people. I installed them on my street bike to make the bike more comfortable for my long legs and got the side effects of better shifting, better grip on the pegs, and removed the ugly silver cast hunks that come with the bike. Bling Bling....yo
Or. he's tall and wants more comfort, or he does track days and likes more clearance.
