Tmp this sun 15 th just added

I was out in the green as well, rode some 1:24's, lot's of people in yellow running 127's +. I like the green, don't mind having to slow down for slower riders the odd time, you are definitely ready for yellow based on times, but passing is different and you have to be ready to be passed in corners. if you are comfortable in green and don't mind slowing down for less experienced riders, stay there, if you find you are held up to often, move up, but it's all about having fun, prizes are no better in the yellow or red group :)

You enjoy green at 1:24?

I can never get myself to go deep enough...testicles too small...

LOL... I'll keep my reply somewhat clean as I'm sure everybody has thought of 10 different replies to that comment.

On my SV, running forward alien, I would start braking at the first yellow braking line.

How does that work out...I am having a hard time picturing it. It seems like it would come up pretty quick after the dogleg, which has kind of a top speed of its own, so maybe you end up not needing to brake much to enter the carousel?

The other corners I can pretty much picture how they would work in reverse, but not the carousel entry.

Of course, the braking zone for the carousel is also kind of a mystery to me in the normal direction....I can never get myself to go deep enough...testicles too small...

It doesnt jump out at you too bad.

I grab 3rd gear before the dog leg then try to get mid track for the entry into the carousel. When going backwards the carousel opens up on exit so a lot of riders get sucked into a tight line. Accelerate the whole way through the corner. As soon as I can see the exit I have it pinned in 3rd.

The left after the back straight does really jump out at you though. Thats the trickiest corner at GB.

That was me on the "bloodish red GSX-R. I think he had yellow leathers" lol That was my first track day I didn't realize you're not suppose to pull over to check on people I was use to the street mentality when you see someone down you go check on em, glad you're okay though. Do they post the pictures they were taking there with the camera on tripod? or anyone get any video they putting up?

The last marshal literally put up the checkered apparently right after you and I passed him, I clearly remember seeing he was looking through his binoculars. The head marshal thought we were sneaking in some VIP lap times. We almost got the "talk".

Your friend on the RSV4 was moving really slow (slower than acceptable for Intermediate group IMHO). That bike is great and really fast, I wanted to play nice and pass in the straights, but even having more initial speed I still couldn't outgun him. Turn 9 was the culprit, I carried much more speed into the corner and saw he's taking a really tight line, so I was on the outside, then he ran wide (WTF), I had to run off... have this on video. Anyway, no offense, but lots of horses shouldn't be an indicator what group people run in. No bad feelings, just saying! Cheers

I understand what you mean... It was his first time and because the rest of us were in intermediate and it was not a busy track day, we felt he would be fine in this group. We knew he would be a little slow in the morning but felt things be much better in the afternoon, which they were.
He is a very experienced rider, and I understand street and track are black and white. However we felt he would come around; Which is what happen a couple session after lunch.
His last session was pretty awesome for his first ever track day. I can garauntee you were not held up as there was myself, black R1 and his RSV4 running neck and neck around the entire session.

I will apologize, since myself and another buddy motivated him to stay in intermediate, however I know if you came off the track and back on, you would have been fine.

What bike were you on?

"the talk" Golden! LMAO

I noticed all morning he was leaving you in the dust on the straights, but in the afternoon you were right on his tail. Did you just start picking better lines out of the corners or was he letting you keep up for more fun in the corners?

He was absolutely horrible in the corners in the morning!!! I almost took him out when he panicked and grabbed the brakes in the middle of turn 1 (have it on video). He was so so hard to pass, couldn't trust his lines in the corners and man that RSV4 pulls like a tank on the straights, I couldn't get him.

In the afternoon he was way way better. Equally hard to pass but as least his corner speed and lines were 100x better. Congratulate him on such amazing improvement for me please.

I know Runner2k has some video from green group, probably has you passing him a few times ;). Send him a PM and ask for the link!

Nice riding man!! Remember to keep those toes tucked in and if you're scraping pegs you better start leaning off a little more ;) lol. Hopefully your mechanic can fix up those mushy brakes and while it's there have him check the seal on the master cylinder nipple to make sure it stopped leaking after you tightened it.

I know Mike usually takes pics from the infield at TMP but I'm not 100% sure it was him this time: https://www.facebook.com/mike.degasperis.5?fref=ts

He was one of those Straight line speed demons. I had no chance in the straights with that bike. On my camera you will see my tailing him like a trailer the entire infield and then on the straights I looked like I was riding a e-bike. He was def. not letting up in the corners...As you mentioned he got much better in the afternoon. I must have had better lines on the exits, and I was obviously out braking him which helped.

I will tell him someone said something postive about him for the afternoon sessions.

Which bike were you on hpchewy?

I'm pretty sure they cover that in the riders meeting

I was on a black GSXR with a silver tank. I was pretty disappointed with my own riding in the morning sessions too, I was not going as fast at all, yet that guy was a standing still in the corners in the morning (I don't think I encountered him in the afternoon). Yes, I was fine when I ran off, although this was the first time ever, in which I actually got angry and should have seen me intentionally redlining 1st gear in the grass. Never been on any track and skipping beginner---bad decision, could have ended really ugly for someone out there.

Nope! Hpvchewy was the one that filled me in on not doing that afterwards, he also said he was surprised they didn't mention that in the riders meeting.

Working on all of it, I bent my break peg on the last session which is a first normally its just the foot rest peg that scrapes. Thanks for everything at the track btw

They didn't. The riders meeting was the shortest one ever, I think because they were 20 minutes late starting the meeting. All they covered was if you crashed to stand up and get the bike away/off the track if safe, if not stand away from bike/track. If hurt stay down to get medical dispatched. That was it about downed riders.

Your foot pegs fold up as they come in contact with the pavement, so if you continue to lean you can eventually hit the brake lever. It may have been bent when your toe caught on the pavement as well.

You're welcome. Everyone at the track day is there to help everyone else if they have a problem, just don't be afraid to ask!!! It's really a great bunch of people as I'm sure you found out.

Wrong. David Buckland himself explained the rules pretty well, and he did say to not stop on a red flag or rider down (I distinctly remember when he said "ride at 2/3 and exit", because I'm used to hear 80 percent).

He said "not to stop at the marshal station on red, don't grab a hand full of brake and ride at 2/3 then exit the track at track exit".

You're kidding, right? I've never been on a better rider's meeting at TMP run day, lol. I was gonna say you probably went to another meeting, but I know you were there, bud :)

Yep, that's exactly his words, you've got a good memory! Wait, were we talking about something else here?

I didn't say it was bad, in fact I think it was almost perfect, just short and missed a point or two. I agree that it by far was the best riders meeting at TMP ever. Not perfect for the first time track riders, but flawless for the experienced ones.

My memory super sucks. I was testing out one of my crashed GoPro cameras (it usually quit recording after 2 mins, replaced the SD card and re-flashed the firmware just prior to this track day) so I ended up recording the entire riders meeting, lol. I just played it back and typed in what he said :D

Yeah first line is a pretty safe braking marker for an SV.

That's what my riding coach was telling me (my bike has a bit more snot than an SV, but not much)...but I could never bring myself to stay in it that long. Then I'd be in the turn thinking "yup, coulda gone faster". But that was technical track which has a longer straight. Probably I should be braking even later on alien.

Reverse alien, no clue really. I'm actually looking forward to figuring out a completely new layout on Thursday - that's always a fun challenge, but I'm not especially good at it. I'll be bugging all the fast guys to share their lines.
