Should have got a single sided swingarm :(

Looks really good in white. It's a sexy machine. I actually don't mind the swingarm, it kind of grew on me.
But when is Ducati going to build a proper middle weight bike for racing in supersport classes. This 899 is too big for that. So who is this bike really for? It's great it has all thee electronic aids as its big brother the 1199, but its only 3000 cheaper. Apparently its along the same price as an rsv4?
What gives?
Don't get me wrong, I love the bike. But if it is close in price to an rsv4 or tuono, then I would rather have one of those.
Oh well, I'm hoping they make a beast out of the 2014 monster like the s4r.

Meh I'll pass. Glad I got my Corse and not waited for this. At least it's got ABS as standard lol. Double sided swing arm looks funny on it, and they didn't even put a colour dash like the 1199. I guess they're trying to keep the cost down...
899cc is this really still considered middle weight?

I like it, but as Deiselxx said, if it's in the same price point of the RSV4, the RSV4 is likely the better value.

Whats up with the anteater nose?

You guys are so picky on the cosmetics, I'd hate to see how you rate the chicks. I think it's great looking.

That's why they are single bro.

Looks like they've hit a pretty convenient niche. Everyone still calls it a "middleweight" while it's nearly a literbike. It can beat up on 600s, 675s and any loss in performance against a similarly priced literbike can be answered with "but it's not a literbike, check out the 1199 if you want to compare those".

Classes and engine sizes aside though, it is a pretty bike!

I like it a lot personally. The swing arm is just wrong but that aside I'd ride it.

They may have upped the service interval...but have you seen the costs of a valve check on a Panigale?
There are downsides to a frameless bike...it literally has to be taken to bits.

I just don't see the point to this bike, anybody that can afford it will just get a Panigale...and the guys that finance...well expect a lot of used 899's due for their big service.

The x-factor.

One could argue that given i havent ridden the 899, im speaking out of my ***. This is true.

But in the end of the day, how many of us take our bikes to the limits and truly experience what the bike has to offer. I will be the first to admit that I probably havent taken my 848 to 60% of what it has to offer. Its not about performance (for me), its about the feeling you get when you ride it and how you have to turn your head to look at it when its parked. Sorry the 2014 doesnt do it for me.

There is no science or logic.

What exactly makes it garbage? Excuse me while I grab the popcorn

I think the same could be said about its predecessor. I'm not really sure of the point. Both the 1199 and 899 are gorgeous bikes, but I'd rather get on an RSV4/ZX-10R or something else, especially considering cost.

Insurance usually plays a factor. There's about a 3k difference a year when I got quoted. Most will not touch a Duc and State Farm who I'm with goes by CC...and those xtra cc's adds up.
