Moto-D tire warmers

I hope this is not a huge can of warmers I am opening (get it?), because I know John Bickle is a frequent poster here, as is Trackside Cuts. Hopefully people can just offer what they know about the product from personal experience.

The Moto-D single temp warmers that Trackside Cuts now sells look like a great deal to a track day guy like myself on a limited budget ($299). Bickle's product is universally praised, but of course a little more expensive. Moto-D offers a 2-year warranty, which would seem to take some of the risk out, and having them now sold and supported by a local vendor is a big plusin my mind.

I know a few people here own the Moto-D warmers and have likely got a whole season of use on them now. Impressions? Would you buy them again?

Can of warms indeed :)

Not sure you will get any honest opinions from Race's here - Most people Like Drew and Sunny and also Like Bickle so not sure many will want to say one product is better than the other.

I have only used one of them so I got no opinion.

Scott Forgie has a set of the MotoD warmers that quit shorty after he got them, he has not been able to get satisfaction from MotoD as of yet.
I'd spend my $300 on a set of programmable ones that give you the temp that the tires at instead.

This statement is completely inaccurate and false.

We have spoken to Scott Forgie about the situation and he reports that he has been in contact with MOTO-D. Not to mention Scott's warmers are the older version of MOTO-D Tire Warmers.

I believe sunny and drew sell the moto d warmers. I had an issue with the rear and it was a no questions asked replacement. The pro series warm like crazy, although the cheap ones are good too. Definetly 2 thumbs up for moto d.

I might risk opening another can of warmers and ask why local retailers wouldn't work with local product providers instead of retailing a competing product. To me this is part of what is wrong with Canadian racing, too much competition instead of working together. Maybe I'm too simple and don't see the big (money) picture.

As for your question, I've only used Bickle warmers, so can't comment on Moto-D. I can say that it is now the end of the national race season and other regional series' are wrapping up. Keep your eyes peeled for used Bickle warmers. They usually go for $250ish.

To be clear my Moto D warmers are last yr's version before the carbon fibre elements were incorporated into the design. The LED light on my front ones has stopped working making me nervous to go banzai into turn 1.......i did use them this weekend past at a trackday however. I emailed Scott D at Moto D about it and he emailed back quickly. He asked for my number to call and resolve it. I bought these before Trackside Cuts was a distributor and as far as I know the only units Drew and Sunny have sold are all the new carbon fibre heating element ones which even Scott D admitted were vastly superior.
I currently own an old pair of Chicken Hawks, a pair of Moto D and a pair of Bickles. None of them have shown to be 100 percent perfect all of the time...thats why I have more than one set. To be fair and show that nothings perfect, my Bickles experienced a burn hole the first weekend even though I was sure to unplug them and hang them from my canopy...... I wasn't upset about it as Bickle was good about service. Trackside cuts didn't sell me the Moto D warmers so of course I didn't bother them to repair them.....however Trackside Cuts has always given me good service for myself and my whole endurance team, so I would have no fear dealing with them about the stuff they sell. Product problems are ineveitable and repair/warranty service is the most consumers can ask for. I have been pleased with the response I have gotten so far on all brands.

I can only speak from experience about Bickle Warmers.

Ive had my set that i bought from Ben G, years ago. Been working ever since now and had zero issues. Going on at least 6-7 years now ..
I have one burn section on one of them, but of my own fault.

Maybe you should let Scott Forgie speak for Scott Forgie.

I don't recommend buying used warmers.... I only did because I knew who used them and how long they were used for. Next year's new set will be a new pair of MOTO-D's. Can't beat that warranty.

There are LOTS of good used warmer deals out there,, you have to figure out who to buy from.

Through various arrangements over the past 10 years, I've had at least 2 new sets every season, they were used for one season only then sold(check the for sale section, I sell at least 2 sets every year)

I know most of the sets I've sold are still being used today.

I looked at Moto D warmers when they were first advertized here. I discounted them after looking at their web site and few linked "reviews". The web site was nothing but hyperbola and testimonials, nothing on the advantages of their product. I looked again today and see that they're really toned it down; no more 900 Watts = 1200 Watts, no more "bomb proof", they still don't say where they're made but no more "Made in Europe" then be very evasive about where they're actually manufactured.

However, when you drill down to the product pages you still find the same BS.

Carbon wires really don't get me that excited. Everyone else has been using "soft copper" wires successfully for years. I doubt they use "soft copper" anyway but rather probably nichrome wire.

Now, if they were to be using carbon panel heating elements, then I'd be interested.

I just talked to Scott again - last time I talked to him was Sunday and he had not been able to resolve the situation at that time.

He has since then been in touch with MotoD and had success in reaching a solution.

Hmmmmm..... maybe you should have spoken with him before you decided to post something that was not accurate?

Yeah, if you read my previous post, we were already aware of that.

Moto-D warmer ordered at Trackside. Hopefully I'll get it before next Thursday (I never thought I'd say this, but...damn holidays ;))

I bought a set of the old style bickle digitals from Gary Christie in 2009...I'm still using them today.

The only reason I haven't tried the Moto D warmers yet. Wouldn't hesitate to buy a set from Trackside cuts.

Order received! Don't worry you will definitely have them before Thursday.

Thank you for your business!

Bought my bickles from Jodi at the show in Dec. Always took good care of them (not folding them warm, not tight, their own plastic container). Front gave up on me this past weekend at Grand Bend (about 10 track days). Mind you, they are the old model.

Fantastic! Looking forward to putting some warmth in those tires of mine :)

One of the benefits of the carbon coil wiring is that it can be twisted or crushed without damage. Soft copper wires can break when twisted or bent enough times over the course of use.

Also, just wanted to add that there have been a number of racers on MOTO-D Tire warmers this season. Jodi Christie, Louie Raffa, Trevor Daley, Stacey Nesbitt, Toni Lanni and Jamie Young. You can ask any of them how their warmers performed this past season.
