$2K in damage, i'd be going through my insurance.
I'm concerned that over the span of years to come, I'll pay waaay more than $2k in increased premiums.

Call your agent, you never know, this might be a better option. A good agent will tell you to either pay up with your own $$ or file a claim.I'm concerned that over the span of years to come, I'll pay waaay more than $2k in increased premiums.
Brampton Powersport is a legit authroized Suzuki motorcycle dealers, their cost estimate should be fair..... at least they didn't get the estimate from Suzuki Newmarket
honestly, I think you are getting a bargain for $2k.
Thanks for all the responses guys.
To clarify on some comments:
The estimate I posted can be zoomed in by clicking on the picture. The price quoted there is simply the total of all the parts that he listed. Labour not included.
If this was my bike, I'd want the other guy to fix everything, but what baffles me is that he
a) listed parts that were not damaged (the 1st item) (RH Switch) and one of the plastics
b) wants $2k when the new parts alone cost $1,900
c) claims I broke one of his sliders (can a bike with sliders get so damaged from tipping over?) and wants 2 new ones
Keeping the parts is only an option if I buy all new parts and install them at that place (he's insisting on that shop).
I want to cover his damages, but minimize mine as well.
Thanks again for all the responses.
If you decide to pay him out of pocket just make sure he doesn't report to insurance too. Friend had that happen to him where he paid the guy to avoid insurance then the cops call him a couple days later to say he needs to come to the reporting station for being in a collision. Other guy went through insurance anyway and my friend was out a large chunk of money.
New parts alone cost 1900 and he wants 2K cash? I'd take that deal and run. Get it in writing once you pay up and stop making demands like "i want the old parts back", before he gets annoyed and decides to go through insurance. If he does, you're looking at 500-1000 deductible + years of insurance increases.
Hourly shop rates are between 60-100$, you sure you wanna pay for them to install it?
You wont. Why would I pay deductible on his claim?
I see a sticker on the side of the bike saying "Damage reported to police". Did he have your information when he reported it to the police? If so, your insurance will be notified of the "collision" and it'll impact your insurance regardless.
Why would I pay deductible on his claim?
The collision was reported to the CRC but the CRC doesn't report to the insurance company.
Call your insurance agent to confirm. The least you can do before forking out the cash.
You went with him to the collision centre? Did you fill in your information? such as your driver's license and insurance policy numrber etc.?
Depending on your record, if its clean, I would go through insurance. Your premiums won't go up that much for a minor claim like this. I don't see it going up over $2g's over 6 years. After that it gets cleared. And if it does goes up, at least the 2g's is spread out over a certain amount of time instead of forking it out in one shot. It's better for both parties, he can drop it off and everything gets fixed and if something goes wrong after, it's covered. Leave it for the insurance company to fix and figure everything out, after all, that's why you pay for it.
You might wanna bend over and realize its gonna hurt :lmao:
If op's record is clean, there's no way insurance will go up $2g's. its a small claim, its not like its a write off. OP, double check to see if you have accident forgiveness.
