seems like a knee-jerk reaction to the Yatim shooting.... cops are trained to draw their sidearm vs knife-wielding threats, not taser them... tasers effective range is well within the lethal kill zone of a knife... tasers miss quite frequently and they're a one shot deal... anyone who thinks cops will refrain from using their gun in favour of a taser in situations like that are quite mistaken

I don't see how it's gonna help. Cops will continue drawing their Glocks instead of tasers because it's more intimidating and more effective when it comes to protecting their own lifes.
Turning onto public to budget additional 2-3 mil just to add a taser to the uniform of every officer? Sounds great...

I say let front line have the zappers, but take their guns away. Special weapons team is on hand when needed.

Yes the zappers can be lethal, but are less lethal than bullets. I'd rather be tased by an officer making poor decisions, than shot.

We live in Canada, we pay taxes in Canada, we have our lifestyle here and we seek to improve upon and not become stagnant or regress. The Police works for the Citizens.

You seem to forget about the Cops that run their own extortion rings (former Police Chief Bill McCormick's son that was a Detective as well). How about the Cops that ran that recent 172 scam on the public by laying fake charges. I am sure Shaman has a nice list for you as well.

Shouldn't that be a good rule to follow with everyone you encounter? Except people don't always have the best judgement and cops are just that - people.

I'm all for body cams. That protects the good cops and makes the criminal element think twice when they get into a confrontation with the police. Even the bad cops will be protected when "the footage gets inexplicably corrupted" so it's a win for all
