Hope the person is ok. I also hope the track staff know to remove the pilons in high wind conditions after today or secure them better.
Tried the blue group for my last session and that was scary. Mostly because they let everyone on at the same time instead of in spaced out groups of four.
Sounds like complaining but had an awesome day.

Lol. I went looking for you at lunch but couldnt find where you were pitted.
Hopefully you got someone else to tow you around, and show you some lines.

Dave (Bakaboy) is a great teacher, I felt 100% comfortable following him around.
The "lead" rider for the first session was a little disappointing.
They are supposed to take you around for 1 lap, exit the track and continue with you for the rest of the session, showing you lines etc.
This one did two laps and booked it. Missed the exit after the checkered flag and I had the track to myself for a full lap while trying to find the exit. LOL
I got an update last night, Broken femur and arm, and swelling on brain. They were to operate ASAP. Haven't heard anything else. I hope it's all ok.

First time at Mosport and WOW :shock: very intimidating track but , only wish there was more time and better conditions in the am. Had fun hope to get back there some time agian.

I saw you out there I think I took you around the first time out.
Probably did. And at one point we just sailed up the back stretch after losing everyone else.

Yeah I tried to signal to the group that I was going to pass the vintage group in front of us but we ended up loosing a few, I assumed they just tagged onto the other group.

I was the first person to ride up to him when the flags came out. It looked bad, he was lying face down not moving at all with the bike on top of him. And also it was at the end of the straight where the crest is and I usually just switch to 6th and am doing like 250km/h at that point. His suit was mangled at the legs I could see alot of exposed skin. And his body position and lack of movement led me to think he broke some serious bones. Just a bad situation when you go down at that speed and don't manage to separate from the bike.
Now as for the cone people asked if I saw it, but he was already down whne I got to him. The cone was knocked onto the track but IMO I do not think he hit it in on the track. The scrape marks looked like he came over the crest and got a wobble, pushed wide hit the cone and went down. Not every time but maybe 50/50 I get a speed wobble coming over that crest. So to me that's what looked like happened, his scrape marks were very close the edge of the track and there was some debris from the grass knocked onto the track. I wish him good luck and a speedy recovery

I was out in the session where the incident occurred. I got the checkered flag and came in. Therefore the incident definitely happened in the last lap. On my last jaunt down the back straight there was definitely no cone out on the track. The conditions at that point were indeed very windy though. Also, the last session was pretty nutty, the marshal let everyone just go all at once rather than spacing people out, not ideal. There was some sketchy passing in that session as well. I was already packing up when I heard of the incident, since I came in on the checkered flag I had no idea anything had happened until my pit neighbors mentioned it to me. GWS rider.

Well I'm sorry I wasn't there for the day, and I wish the rider all the best for a speedy recovery. But reading this thread brings certain thoughts to mind:
First, how windy was it? Those pilons are made to stay put and if they could be blown over then don't you think we would have heard of that happening in the past? Furthermore if it was possible, CTMP would definitely have already found a solution to the problem. So I think it's more likely the rider unfortunately lost control for some other reason.
Second, about the passing, the fastest guys basically just go around you and they're gone. In expert basically you should be comfortable with close passes anywhere on the track, and if some were too close for anyone's comfort the passing rider could have still perceived a lot of buffer between the bikes. But I wasn't there so I'll concede that I don't know who may have been involved. Still, IMO 95% of passing in expert is done clean, albeit sometimes very close.
If we get to stay at the big track, I'm a fan of a graduated system of allowing people to ride it. Don't know how this might happen or if it would be financially possible, but there have been a lot of crashes there lately and I find it hard to blame the track for that.

When we race, there are bunch of us (24 in some of the grids I have competed against) off the starting line trying to make turn one at the same time and 99.9 percent of the times no one crashes, can't blame it on the track or the fact they let you all out at the same time, only the riders can be blamed.
