A man in his 30’s has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle crash in Clarington, an Ornge spokesperson says.
Initial reports say the motorcycle hit a wall at a local motorsport park.
The man was transported to a hospital in Bowmanville via land ambulance and was then flown to a trauma centre in Toronto, Ornge said.

It was a really somber afternoon in the pits after the incident, a rider in the AM Superbike race crashed in turn 8. Those who ride this track know the speed of that corner. Thoughts go out to his friends and family, especially those at the track yesterday.

Could someone please cite a source other than facebook posts that the rider has passed away? There were rumours on facebook of this being the case a couple hours after the incident, then others stating that this was untrue, and now more rumours starting around noon today. There is nothing on www.csbk.ca about it. I found the original article on CP24 and it has not changed. There is nothing on Cherrypicker about it.

edit: This article was posted 12:15 PM today. Does not mention if the rider has passed away. http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/man-suffe...uring-motorcycle-race-durham-police-1.1407491

edit 2: "Canadian Superbike Championship" has been active on facebook around 11 AM today posting links to race videos but has not commented on rider status. The lack of comment on that situation is understandable but the bottom line is that we, the public, do not know. We would all like to know and we wish the best to Christian and his family in the circumstances. But if there has been any development in this situation, it is being kept quiet, and it is not in anyone's interest to speculate.

Agreed, last thing I directly heard was they weren't sure he was going to make it, and thats all my comment addresses. It is strange that on the CSBK site they mentioned the crash and the riders condition from the xr1200 race and not this incident, but that does not necessarily mean this was fatal.

CSBK FB post tonight.

I visited Christian Auger in the hospital this evening and wanted to let fellow racers and fans know that he is currently in a coma. Our thoughts are with him and his family.

Yes, FINALLY some news from a more trustworthy source. It is still not good, but it is better than what was speculated. The thoughts and prayers of the entire paddock are with you, Christian.

I have edited this thread to remove certain posts that were made prematurely. I really, really hope that I do not have to put them back.

Thank you, sorry for the third (or fourth) hand information. My apologies to all. GWS.

I'm soooo glad the initial reports were wrong.

Please visit again and let him know how many people he has rooting for his full and complete recovery. I understand people in a coma can hear when you speak to them.

I wish Christian a speedy recovery.

I recently saw a video of the accident.

There is a sad, disappointing update on facebook at the moment, and this does not appear to be a rumour. The decision has apparently been made to discontinue life support because Christian does not show any brain activity. The funeral is being planned for 26 August in Shawinigan.
