Decline of group rides (quantity) and how do you cope with it?

with that attitude you might as well buy a harley or give up.

snort.....there i more to riding than squirreling around irresponsibly....

I think people can make their own assessment of your "judgement"....

1) Ride started well, all safe and everyone stayed together all the way up to Bala, maintaining pace on hwy with 20+ riders and keeping them together is not an easy task.
2) You decided to take a couple of guys in the front in Bala where we shouldn't have and started to pass cars illegally putting yours, other riders and cars at risk. Because of this, cops get called and the whole group had to take **** from cops as people complained 20+ riders doing stupid things.
3) When cops stopped, instead of staying with your group you took off, without a care in the world with what the group had to go through.
4) We thought you learnt your lesson but it appears you haven't, When we got on Peninsula Rd which is new road for most of the riders. the Leader Dhruv was maintaining pace so that people who have not done the road remain safe but it seemed that you wanted to and did go ahead and started doing the same thing as you've done in the past rides we've had going north. Result this time is one guy going down. let's be thankful that he is alive. and I do thank you for taking him back to the city so that he could catch a bus ride home.

But honestly true leader don't laugh at others mishaps or unfortunate turn of events. Rather the leader cautions new riders and worries about their safety. At the end of day, people are out to have fun and with such an incident as this one it doesn't leave good taste ......this is not the first time, you know and have been told that you put others life at risk (probably not by me either) but you call for attention. Did you see the Dhruv walking to the cop? What if the cop wasn't nice, you left, and he could have gotten a ticket but he took it upon himself in a respectful manner and managed situation. You gotta learn to be a leader, its easier to do crazy and stupid things and record your posts and what not, but it takes a lot more to lead people and bring them home safely. I hope you understand this and will learn from it to become a better rider and a leader. Hopefully you too will plan rides and have a great turn out. Wish you all the best.

PS if you want to and will continue riding the way you do then you are welcome NOT to come to our rides in the future. I am sure Dhruv will back me on this. We would rather have a safe ride without the cops, other drivers being annoyed with us (such as that other instance in Hailburton last year, (you hoping the curb and cutting across some grass to cut infront of a guy towing a boat (yea we remember that one)) and most importantly to have fun. I don't know if anyone actually came with us to learn how to do crazy riding or wheelies on that ride. People came to have fun and who ever we have talked to they did have fun and are looking forward to more rides like this. You should be thankful that the cops weren't called on you or that they were chasing after you either. Those videos you are posting of yourself doing illegal things, its matter of time when people see you on the road manage to snap a picture or video of you in the act, or call the cops ahead of time so the cops will be waiting for you around the next corner. Last thing, I pray nothing ever happens to the people I ride with, but god forbid if it does, keep in mind its not just your life that will be affected, your family, friends, the motorbike community, we will all be affected.

NOTHING more boring than caught behind a Sunday Harley parade......

On PA 144!!!!!!

Thats gotta suck, which brings me to something I wanted to say a long time ago:

Large group rides: please leave some ******* space. If someone catches up to you quickly let them pass. It might seem to you that you are ripping but to some it feels like a harley parade. I will wiggle myself between you! I ditn't get a sore ass riding hundreds of KM to cruise on twisties.

As for warptiger, how he be blamed for someone else's crash? If they chose to follow him tough luck. It's not a race, but some of us need a faster pace to have fun. Everyone should ride at their own pace. The group pace doesen't matter. If you don't know your pace you need to get back in a parking lot.
Whenever I lead, I make a pass as soon as there is a gap for a bike, then I slow down to wait for others. It's stupid to wait for a gap in which everyone fits. Everyone needs to make their own call. Macdoc survived on my ride :)

Also it seems whenever someone posts a fast ride, every one seems butthurt it is not all inclusive.

Post a fast ride, slow guys get butthurt. Post a slow ride, fast guys get butthurt. Post a medium pace rider, fast and slow guys show up and everyone gets butthurt.

Basically, everyone gets butthurt.

Cure = ride with friends or alone. Want big groups, go find a timmies

True.

Warp can ride, no one's doubting that...
I don't think anyone should be blaming him for anything related to crashes as you are in control of your own throttle.

However, when you start acting a bit douchie on a group ride and attracting unwanted attention (that ultimately results in the group as a whole being pulled over) it's another story. However, I don't think he can be solely blamed for any of the above.

Sabex is that you?

I'm sure that replacements for Cheuh, LRB, Bill, Gary, aminal, Brian P, TAFB, D, etc. will come along. There's always someone who likes to lead...

Yeah I miss those rides with Bill, he had a nose for sniffing out some fun roads.

I don't really understand how a rider can blame someone else when they crash... it's not like the leader is controlling your throttle. When my friends outrun me, I just meet up with them at the predetermined spot, I don't risk my life or my bike to keep up with guys capable of riding faster.

It would be nice to not attract attention, but a bunch of sports bikes riding together will attract a ton of attention as it is so I don't really mind if some of us get a little crazy.

Sometimes I feel like people expect us to speed... today we were just riding around back roads maybe at 15-20km/h above the limit and we had a bunch of people tailgating us... more so than when I'm in a car.

Until their rides get popular and its a crashfest every few rides. Then they'll stop leading just like all those guys did.

My guess, given the new laws, increased Police tools (planes, helicopters, minivans, etc...), and last but not least the people that love to make a video production to make everyone famous on Youtube are significant factors for these rides not to happen.

Personally, I just never understood how I can blame someone else or making me crash. They are not riding my bike, I am. If I can not handle the pace or the roads then it is MY RESPONSIBILITY to slow down or leave. If you crash because you could not control your bike then that is YOUR problem, go home and cry about it there.

Stop being wimps and blaming others for your lack of skills and accountability.

ok einstein. since you are now starting a new subject because the last one is loosing steam. i'm douch1e... fine... and its my fault 20 bikes decided to piss off a motorist. no one had to follow me where the 10 cars were lined up tightly. I overtook when the broken lines appeared allowing me to make the pass legally after following them through many turns where i was not allowed to overtake due to double solids. those who decided to try and follow through may have not had enough time to complete the overtaking or may have over took on a double solid. i am not sure.

as i recall when dhruv was leading, the group was also overtaking vehicles. when others frantically overtook the vehicles behind me it tells me that they were getting bored following the row of cars slowing down on slight bends of roadway. i made my pass when i legally could do so. i don't know what others did.

i know you said i can't be solely responsible but i'm sensing otherwise.

i'm sure this attitude will be increasing the decline in group rides this year.

Just FYI, lines on the road mean nothing as far as passing is concerned.
