Superbike Double Header Weekend @ Mosport - Aug 9, 10, 11

Yes. It got worse later tho. From the 2 rider crash in corner 9 on the last lap, one of the wrecked bikes tumbled and struck my son in the thigh while he was leaned off his bike at the apex of 9. He managed to finish and we hope that it is only a soft tissue damage.

I hope and believe the 2 crashed riders were ok as well.

Congrats Tomas on the #1 Plate title for the CBR250.

We hope #112 will clinch the 2nd place position for the Series at Tremblant in 11 days.

I remember you taking him out on the 125 at lunch for a few laps on Fabi a few years back, it was great seeing him battle it out on saturday. Best of luck Cameron!

Race rescue cannot move until race control confirms that all race vehicles have stopped. At a track like Mosport, due to limited sight-lines, that requires that all flag stations report that their section of track is clear, and this takes time. It is very easy for a rider to miss seeing a red flag at the first flag station that they pass - it happens all the time. Imagine coming over that crest at corner 8 (280+ km/h) and having a rescue vehicle across the track. The worst thing that could happen is to make an already bad situation worse.

A minute of response time at Mosport is about right.

Thanks for the update. This is great news considering a few of the texts I received from other riders! GWS #13!

Yep. Time flies. Good memory you have. That woud have been his first day on the track. 2 years ago this month I believe.

Hopefully we can get his bike back running properly before Tremblant. He has been down on power since his crash at St Eustache.

O well. He has had to learn to race and fight hard to hold his positions with what he has had.

He couldn't get better than high 1 53s this weekend despite running 1 50 last year on the same bike.

The climb on the straight was painful for him as others just repeatedly caught back up.

When I saw you take him out on the 125 I thought that was awesome, now you are taking him racing and I want a dad like you!

I was watching in corner 4 and yeah he was switching positions every lap on saturday, back and forth great stuff.

The younger kid who rides the 125 no wanted to be out there this weekend so badly too race against his brother.

Any word on Martin Ricard?

His Saturday crash was pretty nasty.

Apparently, he will be ok with some recovery time.

There was a horrible incident at the BMW Motorrad exhibitions. Two trails riders were doing stunts, along with young boy. The one rider flipped off a teetering platform and the bike's spinning rear wheel landed on his head. The treads caught the face edge of the open-faced helmet and twisted his head between the road and the wheel.
He was conscious and had arm movements, but many thought he was lucky to not have broken his neck. Haven't heard since the ambulance took him away, but the boy was his son, and was really upset. Very difficult to watch. I've seen these two riders before, they have a lot of experience and amazing bike control, but over and over in my head after seeing that I'm convinced he could have avoid any in jury with a full-faced helmet.

Just shows you don't need speed to have a dangerous situation.

CSBK released an official update on Christian Auger's condition:
Canadian Superbike said:
I visited Christian Auger in the hospital this evening and wanted to let fellow racers and fans know that he is currently in a coma. Our thoughts are with him and his family.

Certainly better news than some of the rumours, but still not good. My thoughts and prayers go out to Christian and his family.

next lap same corner Martin Ricard had a bad crash. Wasn't moving much after he hit the tires and bike followed him in.

I was on corner 3 on sat for the super bike race. Saw both riders go down.crtistie was ok just ****** off. The crash on lap 19 was much worse for the rider but I'm pretty sure he was ok in the end. Got it on video. YouTube. Search.

For the people that don't have facebook?
Lots of condolence wishes to his family and friends....RIP. CSBK and other sites haven't mentioned a thing yet. Many posting RIP comments on the FB pages though. Some of the Quebec racing pages saying that he died earlier this morning.

A late post, but wanted to say thanks to all those that gave me tips for my first visit. I really enjoyed myself, and was right on the other side of the track officials booth where these crashes occurred. Intense indeed and a sad conclusion to the story.

At any rate, coming from a long time closet motogp and wsbk fan, finally seeing a race in person, the sounds, racers different lines through corners, and above all, the variety of interesting people to chat with.

Appreciated.
