Sooo, Nicky lost his ride at Ducati at the end of this season.
He wasn't looking happy at any of the interviews this season so I guess Ducati had to do something.
Unfortunately, not sure what his options are. None of the American racers have really stood out in MotoGP for the last few years.

A ton of rumours about the guy. Apparently Ducati have offered him a wsbk ride but I'd recommend an MRI stat if he takes that offer. BMW made him a big offer and there are probably others. The really interesting one for me is that Dorna wants to keep him in GP. They need an American to promote the U.S. rounds and he's way more popular globally that Edwards & Spies. Suprisingly Dorna feels that there are too many Spaniards in the series and with Pol arriving next year someone needs to go.
Who has the worst results on a good bike and isn't a rookie? Bautista. Dorna has a very big influence on who goes where so this could happen.

He is one of those guys that will try and ride around that piece of crap bike problems and probably will crash every round, I think he is going to hang around Yamaha and wait and see if Valentino retires after next year.
Interesting, I didn't know Donna influenced factory decisions with regards to riders. If this is the case then yeah they'll work to keep Nick, it all depends on how Spies works out.

Jarvis has already said he would like to keep Lorenzo and Rossi past 2014. And Rossi keeps saying he wants to keep racing. Think he will either take the big payday with ducati or stick it out on tech3 for another year then shoot for a Suzuki Factory ride in 2015 when they come back. Hope Nicky stays in motogp. But with how Honda treated him even after winning a title for them i dont see him getting anything from them. Should send smith back down to moto2 with tech3 or give him leased engine from yamaha and give his M1 to Hayden.
In regards to Hayden losing his ride, I'm not surprised it happened since his contract was ending this season.
I do hope he finds a team to ride for, even if it's a satellite team (ie Gresini or LCR) or a team that will buy/lease an engine either from Honda/Yamaha. He will be a missed personality in the paddock, and I think MotoGP should have riders like him especially since they need diversity in the paddock and as others have mentioned representation from North America.

I like Hayden and all but is he the best that North America has to offer MotoGP? Or is he a "has been" now?

Put him on an M1 or an RC and I don't think Crutchlow would seem all that special anymore. People always focus on the fact that Hayden only has a few wins but forget that he had plenty of fastest laps, podiums and was frequently near the top in a lot practice sessions when he was on competitive machinery. Before anyone says it, it wasn't just the bike. Biaggi complained for years that the RC was the best thing out there and when he finally got one he complained so much that he got blacklisted from ever riding for any Honda team again.
I disagree, Hayden doesn't seem to have the killer instinct that Crutchlow, and other current top-level racers have. He tends to err on the side of caution instead of aggression, definitely not a win-it-or-bin-it kinda guy. He's also not as versatile on different tracks or bikes - when the switch was made to 800cc, he wasn't able to adapt to the smooth, high corner-speed style that the new engines required. He also favours certain tracks (left-turn specialist) like Assen, Indy, Laguna.
I've always been a Nicky fan, but I don't think he's alien-level talent. To be a true top tier GP racer, you have to be versatile enough on various machinery, tracks and weather conditions. Even Rossi couldn't make the Ducati work, which really revealed Stoner's versatility.

Win it or bin doesn't win titles and Crutchlow hasn't won anything.
As far as needing to be versatile to be an alien... By that logic Rossi doesn't qualify because of the Ducati and neither does Pedrosa since it took him years to come to grips with riding in the rain and he's been on the same bike since entering the class. Most others haven't swung a leg over a different bike so there's no way of knowing what would happen. Stoner & Rossi are the only ones who have been competitive after switching and I think we'd agree that Stoner won out in that battle.
Definitely disagree with you there. In 2007, Casey was definitely riding on the ragged edge. When Rossi pushed him on better tires in 2008, he started binning instead of winning!
The only thing Rossi lacked was the versatility to tame the Ducati, but he was a master on different tracks and weather conditions. 2/3? IMO, Stoner was the top of the alien-pack, having shown versatility in all three areas.
Hayden is nothing more than a RCV211V-left-turn-track specialist. A very good rider that deserves to remain in MotoGP, but not a top-tier rider.
Honestly, I don't think Rossi's an alien this year either. His only win this year would have been a third-place finish if Pedrosa and Lorenzo were fit.

Is Rossi the only one to have won a title on all different moto gp bikes.....including the 500 two strokes?
