mosport July 5th

For a green rider I had a blast! I thought the track held no matter what line I tried! Stupid fast compared to TMP/GB. Nice track to throw in the mix for us SW Ontario riders.

I thought the facilities, track, washrooms etc... were all steps above a lot of tracks. My only complaint is not be able to hear the group calls from the upper back paddock area near the beginning of the pit lane. A speaker back there would be great.

Saw one mishap at the end of a session in pit row but other than that, that was it for "oops moments"

The drive home was nothing less than brutal with the traffic on the 401! Saw a few of us stuck on there with our trailers!

Thanks to Pro6.... classy group and for my first Pro6 day was run really well in my opinion! I also liked how the experience riders showed us lines at an actual "hot pace" lol the other organizers you feel like you're doing 60km/h and its not fast enough to learn a good line :) Just my opinion.

Good group of riders as well! for as faced paced and how bad things could always go on a track like that, seemed like there was a lot of room and respect given out on the track. (at least in Green)

Now to find CTMP facebook page to post that we need to keep bikes going there!

Where were you rolling off? Did you ever make it under the bridge?

The bridge was basically what I was aiming for, a couple times I made it past it but then chickened out and hit the brakes. My goal going into 8 was doing what a faster rider told me: stay tucked, drop it down 2 and lean er' over -no brakes.....easier said then done at full throttle, 6th gear and at about 14.5k rpm

I commented to a mate that I was hitting the brakes just after the bridge. He replied "Oh, you don't brake into 8. Down 2 and let the engine do the work". Fortunately he gave me this advice while I was holding a beer, having called it a session early yesterday.

This is available at pretty much every track day, you just need to ask the organizer (they usually have control riders), if not they usually don't have an issue putting out a marked red rider. The majority of green riders are new to the track and don't want a control rider going 70% around the track. If you do, just ask and ye shall receive.

TMP was fine bc I was following DoozerDave and he still smoked me on the old SV!

GB was slow bc you were asked to follow the school. Guess I should've asked for a faster pace or one on one.

Sorry Rob! I completely forgot to look for you and Kana to say hi... I spent most of my day "reflecting" in the pits between sessions. haha

Sure sure :) I drove around on my blue CT70 looking for you but had no luck... the last session rocked!
We'll meet next time.

Dave gave me the same advice early on Monday morning, and once I got my engine cutting off issue sorted out, it made Mosport a much more fun place to ride by not braking into 8.

Apologies to anyone coming behind me while I was having bike issues, I know I spooked a couple of people and they made some comments, I came off the session right away once this happened.

At the end of the day I was going into 8 in fifth at around 10,000 rpm and still felt like I was leaving a lot of speed on the floor. No braking from entry to 8 to entry of 1. :D Just scrub off speed in 8, drop to 3rd gear entering 9 and use the motor.

If you use the brakes cant you hold it wide open for longer?
Whats the saying.....you should be accelerating or braking, not coasting.........something along those lines?

Maybe but at a track day I am not personally going for my best possible laps. Also, first time there in a long, long time. I didn't really remember the layout as well as I thought and frankly the surface was completely different.

I am actually always a bit terrified by the end of the straight, nearly at the rev limiter in sixth if I bothered to tuck properly, and the world going by at mind-bending speed. I absolutely can not imagine staying in it until after the bridge, then not grabbing any brakes for 8. Does not compute.

I truly respect you guys who can pull it off.

I thought that was the way to ride out the back straight at mosport ..

All the up into 6th gear, WOT, and by the last braking marker dump it down into 4th and continue into the right hander there.

BTW. I had a TON of fun at Mosport this year .. you get the right guys with you and just go out and have fun on the track.

5th for me. I learned that 4th was too slow early.

BTW I did the gearing commander calc on my bike. According to it, I was turning 309km/h at the end of the straight. I'm a bit skeptical but it definitely was hauling @ss.

Your going from wide open to drop 2 and turn all at the same time. So it would be trail braking which can run you wide and blow 9.

A few laps from Monday. Not perfect laps, but lots of passing action. Let me know if you recognise yourself :)

Your camera looks pretty solid.

My camera was shaky. I'll see if the youtube encoder can help smooth is out and put some laps up.

Dave told me the same thing. Have to see how that works out next time....

It turned out okay. It's a bit shaky because it's on the flimsy windscreen and it makes the audio crackle a bit, but I'm happy with it. Did you put the little rubber thing in the mount to keep it solid (assuming it's a GoPro)?
