mosport July 5th

What a bunch of whiners. The new asphalt is WORLDS better than the old concrete patches. Did you guys even get out for the final, perfectly dry sessions?

I alsospun it once in six, but the slick spot was on the old surface, not the new patch exiting 5 - that bit in 6 dries later for some reason, but you could SEE that it was wet. Also, there was a very greasy spot exiting 2, but that was just after you got off the new asphalt, not while you were on it.

I came back from the final session having finally gotten to ride the track properly again, and felt all tingly like I had had about 12 orgasms. Mosport continues to rock.

There was a puddle of water in 9 that was driving me nuts - I was fine in 6 but i take a wide line to the outside, not sure what others do. Did they changed 5b? I am sure they did something to 5b from what i remember

I liked the new asphalt as I did a lot better in 3 than before

I did ride the later drier sessions. And the new asphalt was still bumpy. How can they lay new asphalt and it be worse to ride than the old concrete? Us "whiners" are struggling to imagine how replacing the dreaded concrete has actually made the track worse. If it's not worse for you then more power to you. But almost everyone I spoke to yesterday, from green group 2 minute guys to 1.29 fast group guys, all said the track surface was now worse than before.

I sincerely hope I come away from Monday with the same viewpoint as you. I'd hate my last Mosport experience to be a negative one.

Can anyone tell me if they have tire service at track? Thanks

Yes they do.
At the show they told me they will have someone to setup your suspension, but he was a no show friday

Thanks Nick. Might bring along a set of DOT's for Monday cause it is threatening rain however I don't know if they will be any better out there in the wet. John Sherrard with Accelerated Technologies (Suspension setups) usually attends Pro 6 events but maybe he had something else going on.

Actually, this complaint I can't disagree with - the new surface has good traction but it *is* kinda bumpy. I really only noticed this in 1 where for some reason I am comfortable taking a lot more speed than elsewhere. I can see how it might be much more unsettling for faster guys who are heeled way over all over the place in fourth gear. I loved turn 3 though - it was so nice being able to take a natural line and not be constrained by the fear of wandering sideways over the imperfect junction between two completely different surfaces.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

Everyone I spoke to says it's fine dry. Bumpy but sticky

Ya its a bit bumpy in the dry (damn cars)...so if you went a couple feet wider there are less bumps.

Friday sucked cause the track was wet but today!!! The track was way better with the concrete removed. rode in the fast group and after getting over the "is the new asphalt grippy or slippy" mental hesitation, its perfectly fine and definitely smoother than crossing the concrete.
I think there were 2 crashes all day( one in novice and 1 in fast) and neither was due to the new pavement.

John is at the nationals this weekend.

Just wanted to publicly thank Dave at competition Cycle, I was having some issues with my bike, he drove back to his shop today and fabricated a part to get me going for Monday.

Support your local shops as they will support you.

This kind of service gives hope that there are good people/shops out there still!!

Lots of great tracktime on saturday. The track has a much better flow to it now in a lot of places.Turn 3,5a/b and 10 are much better. The exit of 3 weirded me out a bit looking at the seam on the right, but i never felt anything nasty. The new asphalt at the exit of 3 also has been beat up by the nascar guys, and i did feel the rear do a few little hops under hard throttle. No biggie tho.All in all...it's great.
My buddy and i went out in his truck sunday morning to the entrance of T5 to see what the surface looked like.He was able to run at the wet new pavement and slide for about 4ft with his runners, surfer dood style.Yikes! The water is pushing oils up thru it and it's going to take a while for the surface to "age" properly for us 2wheel types. The riders that went out on rains had no problems that i heard about. But i packed up and left early.Great to meet a few new folks.Glad to see you having such a good time Meme.:)

A few laps in the dry on Friday.
