Options to get to deals gap.

Hey Guys,

I have planned a small trip to Deals GAP next months and don't have a method of getting the bikes down via trailer. I only drive a Mazda 3 and don't want to compromise my car towing a trailer since its not recommended by the dealer or service guide.

At this point attendance of the parties is still in the air. We have myself and another fully committed and potentially two other. Rather not ride down so we can actually enjoy ourselves while we are down there.

I am trying to source the cheapest rental options available to me and I am sure some of you have been in this situation at one point or another. Any assistance is greatly appreciated :)

Thanks all.

None of you guys don't have access to a pick up or suv? If not you'll have to rent one. (Wont be cheap)

This is just a toss in the air but maybe rent a uhaul truck and put the bikes in the back.

buddy tows a 300lb trailer + 2x 450lbs bikes with a mazda 3 all day long. no issues.

man up and ride down. Take the BRP. Dragon is lots of quick little turns..BRP is hours and hours of turns! If you want to totally cheap out, bring a little tent and camp out at the damn. its like 10 bucks a night..if you have no room on the bike then just bring min clothing and wash in the hotel at night.

Everywhere else in the world, cars tow, and tow all the time, its only in the land of litigation and lawyers do the car manufacturers not endorse towing. For instance, my Nissan Maxima is rated to tow 3000lbs in Europe, same car here, NOT ENDORSED to tow anything...

**** em, i towed a Harbor Freight 4x8 foldable trailer and two SS bikes with no issues behind the Maxima, and if my Civic SIR had a hitch i'd tow with it too...

oh yea, and i rode down to deals gap when i went...

...word to the wise...lean your bike a little more, stick your knee out a little less less :0)

If your going down the same time we are doing the IBA run then you can bring my truck.

I thought the idea was to keep the bike upright as much as possible while hanging off as much as possible.

Dunno I get so many mixed advice. Luckily ill be doing a track school in June so I should learn from the so called pros.

And the foot :( man for gods sake don't stick it out like that or you gonna loose it.
On another note I tow with my matrix no problem. Have towed well over 1300lbs pretty easily, just leave some extra room for stopping.
Out Mazda should be good for under 1500lbs.

I've been to the Gap more times than I can count. I've ridden down twice (ZX6R) , always via the Blue Ridge Parkway, and that was TOTALLY WORTH IT, but only if it's not raining. 17 hours in the rain is enough to make you want to commit suicide. I've ridden home from the gap via the I75 in a tropical storm (17 hours from the resort to downtown Toronto) and that sucked monkey's butt, and after that trip i bought myself a pickup truck (decided that in the middle of Ohio). I've also paid someone else to take my bike down (like Infernobuster is offering) and I've towed in my pickup. I would strongly suggest you pay Infernobuster or someone else to bring your bike down for you and this is because you will probably destroy your rotors driving your car with a trailer through the gap. I warped the rotors on my truck towing a trailer with two sportbikes and had to have them completely replaced. so it's totally worth it to have someone else warp their rotors on your behalf. If you can borrow or buy a pickup truck and put the bike in the back then that's a fantastic option, especially if you can bring a sleeping bag and sleep in the cab. In terms of planning your trip plan to spend one day to get there, one day home and 3 days to ride in the middle. if you ride your *** off you will be done like dinner at the end of the 3rd day. [Make sure to ride your *** off or you will regret it, minimize hanging around at the resort to get maximum riding time in]
